Lol a C5/Z isn't going to be toasting any of the current line ups of mustangs especially not modded ones. I know this is a vette forum but the blind brand loyalty here is annoying.

Back in the '70s I had an Opel GT. Nothing like a Corvette, but still a very fun sports car. Got it to 130mph a few times. I was younger and crazier back then.

i'm a new vette owner and have owned 7 miata's yes the miata has crap for hp but the handling is so good . i'm hoping i can get my vette close to the way my older miata handled with a buttload more hp. i've driven vipers and 911's the miata will out handle them at 1/16th the cost . If anyone is bored and in cali there is the yearly miata meet at laguna seca on oct 6-8 sure flying miata will take you out in a ls3 miata

Unless you're talking about 2 different buyers; which also makes the statement somewhat pointless. No?
yeah in all honesty I think that's one of the more stupid sayings. To make a slow car fun you have to push it to the edge.

A fast car can have fun 100% of the time. Easy cruising in a fast car is fun, just knowing what you have on tap. No one cruises the boulevards in a Miata.

From a guy whos been been wanting a Miata for almost ten years now.

Unless its a GT350 a C5Z shouldn't have too hard of a time with the coyote mustangs. They have similar HP and the mustang is a pig lol. Like 500 pounds heavier.

I don't know why so many people think the GT is so fast...GT350s, Cobras, Shelbys, yes, those are fast, but the GT, not so much...a C5Z is easily faster...and the Mustangs are more like 600 lbs heavier...

Not to mention the handling...the C5/Z has near perfect 50/50 weight distribution in addition to the much lighter weight. The Mustang does not.

The gap grows even wider when on a proper track/road course which involves all aspects of a car's performance, not just straight-line one trick pony.

Probably true.
But specifically to the saying... my intention was for the same buyer. Would Joe Smith buy a slow car and drive it fast, then buy a Corvette and drive it slow? Not me (no, my name is not Joe Smith ).

Did you read what she posted? In 4th at speed you're at 1:1 so the weight difference isn't the deciding factor, so yeah my statement stands, you might win by a few inches, but you aren't "toasting" anyone. Especially one that's modded.

The mustang handles quite well, as was proven when the Coyote came out against the M3, again, do your homework.

Sorry, I was talking about my C6Z, which is putting out more than stock HP.....I forgot this was the C5 section...GT's are no match and neither is the ZL1.

You are 100% right and that's why they won't let my C6Z run against even the modded GT's and Shelby's at autoX events...they are CAM C and I'm CAM S. I've also driven C5's vs C6Z at many autoX events and the handling of the C5 to me is superior to the C6, but I like the HP of the C6Z and that makes it more fun so I don't race the C5 anymore because of that. The C6Z is more of a handling challenge for me because I was used to the size and HP of the C5...the C5 seemed effortless, they are awesome cars!!

All this talk about mustangs is useless. It doesnt matter if its fast or handles. Its a mustang. Its a very pedestrian vehicle. I see a minimum of 50 mustangs on the road every day and I may see at the most 2 C5s.The stang is too common. Its like a fast Camry.

If I didn't have my C5, I'd get an FD RX7 with an LS swap.
