Default Does anyone know what the computer datalines system to the back of the radio do?

Trying to find out what these wires actually do. Pins 15 (e&c data) and 16 (serial data). I'm wondering if they can be connected to an aftermarket head unit to display any vehicle data. I have been googling for a while and can't find anything. I can't find an idatalink adapter that works with a c5 so I'm at a loss.

Oh ok thanks. That is very helpful! Gonna install a new head unit. Now I gotta look at what I need to keep that feature. Looks like there are a couple of options. Gmrap or accessory valet. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Iirc, Door/key chimes are routed through the radio. Perhaps that's why.

To properly replace just the head unit leaving the rest of the system in place you will need an adapter (not just a harness) to provide the required interface. This is due to the way the factory system was designed.

The 2 most common adapters are:
The first one has RAP capability.

Replacing the head unit should be just plug-and-play by using either one. Both have setup adjustments to customize sound/levels. After tweaking them to your liking, they shouldn't require any further touching.

I used the Axxess and RAP is maintained perfectly. The only issue is that sometimes it doesn't turn on right away, it will sometimes take half a minute to a minute to turn on.

I only said RAP is maintained perfectly. RAP has nothing to do with turning it on
