I bought an MCM hood for the '00 I had on 10/15/02 (date I actually received it) and the cost was $1400 shipped. It was the first one sold in Missouri according to Mike who co-owned the company. Sure wish I had that hood back but it went with the car when I sold it in 2008.

.....and you CAN get one if you really want one bad enough......most people could cut out smoking and drinking for a while and put that money towards a fabulous hood...right? when you buy something rare, no matter what it is...its not overpaying for it no matter what the price is if you really want it...life is too short...cut out other stuff for a while and save up...just do it and you will love yourself for doing it...
p.s.>>>I will look around for one for you that is not so spendy...I know where a couple are that are maybe $3K?...i'll keep intouch through pm so we don't get any wise crack remarks like usual...

hood
Thanks Yello95. When you say they are out there are you talking about finding a used one? Word is MCM sold the molds to someone who is making them now. I heard Ecklers but I don't see anything that looks like an MCM on their site. I want the low rise version like I had on my C6. thanks again for posting those pics.

I was hoping that Marc was going to begin production on the MCM hoods again and I joined the waiting list. I haven't had an update for quite a while and from what I have been reading it's not going to happen unfortunately.
I had an opportunity to purchase a mint MCM hood painted black close to my home on Long Island in NY just before my move to SW Florida. I purchased a targa top from the seller then hesitated on buying the hood and it sold. He was only asking $1,200 and was willing to take $1,000 plus it was painted the color of my car. I figured I would find one after the move to FL but it's been 4 years and I have only come accross one other for sale and it was less than 2 hours away. The problem was that it was 4 times the price of the one I could have bought in NY and I would still have to have it painted, but at least it was the high rise version. I had to pass on it since the price was more than I could justify in my head to spend on a hood.

I'm sure if someone placed a wtb add with a 5k budget there would be some takers pretty quick. That would be my advice to anyone looking for a limited qty item for a 20 year old car, it's how I found my spoiler. But 5k is too high IMO.
The market is what people will pay and I have no problem with anyone asking what they want for anything or someone who is willing to pay it.

My remark was in regards to the 5k plus price, that's a third of a nice C5 price , the 3k you now mention is much more reasonable and more realistic as doable.
