Sideswiped - how bad is it?

Fleeing the scene in CA is a felony and requires mandatory suspension of the license. As it should be, ******* like that deserve much worse.

Aw crap!! I'm not a body man but after looking at your photo and what is visible, I doubt the car will be totaled. The damage to your nice C5 sucks but I'd get it repaired and continue to enjoy it. Regarding the motorist who struck your vehicle and fled the scene, lowest of the low. As a 30 plus year police officer I made sure that hit and run drivers were held as fully accountable as possible. There is simply no excuse. Good luck with your repair and best wishes!

No. Hit and run with property damage is a misdemeanor with a penalty of two points on your license, not suspension. There must be injury to be a felony and even then hit and run with injury is a wobbler offense meaning its the prosecutors choice to try it as a felony or misdemeanor.

Considering the amount of work you have put into that car you need to find a way to get it repaired or buy it back from insurance if needed. It may turn out to be a blessing, or the car could morph into something better than it is currently.

It is far from totaled and easily fixed as long as the damage didn't go deep into any unseen parts.
The fenders and rear fascia are easily removable and replaced. You should be able to find used black ones in excellent condition with factory paint for cheep. Same with the rear rim.
The rocker requires body work skills but it is a good time to decide if you want Z06 brake scoops.

Great news - the car is not totaled. Approximately $4300 in damage.
I will be having a local body shop professionally repair the cracks in the door and rocker panel. The gentleman supervising the work owns a C6 and a Porsche 930 Turbo, and has worked extensively with Corvette bodywork in the past, so I think I'm in good hands.
A black FRC specific driver's rear fender is on the way from VetteNuts. I might be able to just compound and polish any scuffs on the rear bumper.
As for the scrape on the wheel - I may touch it up with the existing silver color or refinish the wheels in a gloss black. Not sure yet.
More to come!

awesome, hopefully you were able to make some money off the deal.
as far as resale, i don't think it will effect it all. Just print the pictures you took out, make a date stamp that will tie to the carfax accident report date and you are good to go.

My quarter was cracked too and I was able to find a shop in Dallas that sometimes does paint work for LG Motorsports. He had a takeoff quarter from another customer. Can't remember the final cost but I bought the quarter and he painted and replaced for just a couple hundred dollars. These quarters come right off and require very little labor.
Now the insurance adjuster said it would cost $2700, but that was using the GM labor guidelines and procedures for removal. No bodyshop in their right mind would remove my convertible top to get the quarter off.
Chances are you can get a quality repair for way less than what the insurance company will quote you. This is one time you'll be glad you have a black car, much easier to match the color.

Good to hear it's not totaled! It's pretty awesome that you can actually replace the quarter panels on these cars, in BMW land a damaged quarter panel usually means a car is totaled since you can't really replace a quarter panel without extensive welding/body work.

Black FRC fender from VetteNuts arrives tomorrow
I may even have the body shop doing some of the repairs throw it on if it's a reasonable price.

Car is repaired and back in my possession. We replaced the quarter panel with a used black Z06 unit from Vettenuts - they ended up repainting it so that it would match the rest of the paint work. You can't even tell the car was hit, looks better than before. Thanks to Fred @ S&S Auto Body (who is a C6 owner) for doing a great job.
