Default Did your C5 play role in finding your significant other?

Any good stories on how your C5 was instrumental in you meeting and/or beginning a new relationship and even getting married?

My C4 played a huge role. Back in the day, I had a first blind date when I was 25 or so. I picked her up in my red on red 87 and we went out for a drink which led to getting married 3 years later. Later in our relationship, she admitted she was blown away when I showed up in a vette to pick her up and it definitely piqued her interest. One thing led to another and we were a hot item.

Fast forward 20 years and a divorce and I am in a new relationship already with a school teacher and I bought my C5 after the fact. I can attest it has not hurt a thing. She loves to go places with me in it and it has been a boost to our relationship. Any other good stories out there?

My story is the opposite...my significant other played a role in finding my Vette.

Met my wife at work, hung out with the same group every day at lunch and eventually went out for a date. A few years later we were married and her father always wanted a corvette. He purchased a 2004 coupe new the morning of our wedding. Eight years later he was ready to sell it and made the offer to me for trade of our 2007 Acadia + some cash for a 2003 Envoy winter car (which coincidentally was originally my wife's and what we drove from Chicago to Maine on our honeymoon). He kept the vette completely stock and it had 18,000 miles on it. Now it has 26,000 and modded to my tastes.

I had a personal goal to get my first Vette at 50. Fortunately for me, my choice in significant other allowed me the opportunity to get one at 35 instead.

As a side note, I used to always say that the first Vette I ever drive would be my own. When my FIL was laid up after back surgery, I was the one he called and entrusted to take the Vette out on it's regular Sunday shakedown route. Little did I know that less than a year later I'd be the owner and driving it every day.

I didn’t meet her because of it but it was the first thing we bought together. And she insisted that I have it. She’s a keeper.

C5 - no, as I did not have one when I met my future wife. I had an '89 C4 then but it played no role either - my wife is not a car person so she couldn't have cared less what cars I had.

No, but 48 years ago my C2 did.

I had to let it go before going to Vietnam, but my hot babe bride and I are still together.

Similar to imgn tht but not... I never planned to buy a Corvette but did; at 50. I had driven 3 series BMW's for 17 years and wanted a change, mostly a ton more power like some previous to my German car run.
Here's where the wife comes to play. I was looking at 60's cars to start, and my wife piped up and suggested a Corvette. We did some looking and she found a Z06 suddenly by searching a bit higher than we had originally.
Bought it on the test drive. "Guess what, I'm buying the Z06" "Cool"

Back in the mid seventies I had two 1969 Corvettes and a two car garage. My X wife had to keep her brand new car outside in the driveway in Vermont. She is long gone but I am now on my eight Corvette. Having Corvettes help me unload that nasty bitch.

My current significant other uses the 02 vert I purchased for her. She asked Santa for a new kitchen and got a Miata. Tried for a new kitchen a second time and got the vert. Eventually I found a waterfront home with enough garage space for the vert and my Hemi Ram so she got her new kitchen a few years later.

My future wife had a '76 C-3 when I first met her, in '78. She purchased a '79 not long after that, but a few months later, we broke up. We didn't see each other for 10 years, but wound up getting back together, and then married.

All this time, I had a '77 Pontiac Trans Am, which had never seen winter. Sadly, however, it started to develop rust issues. I was trying to decide what to do, and my wife suggested I sell it and get a Corvette. So, that's what I did.....I sold the T/A, and ordered my C-5.

I would be cautious about getting hooked up with a woman because of a car. My friend, who just bought a C5 and has a Donzi boat goes on a date with his Navigator and never mentions either toy. Smart. Wine and dine them and they'll always expect it.

Pretty much the same, I bought my first Vette (1964) in the first year of our marriage, (48 years ago)

When I saw my first 'Vette (65) driving down the street, after I'd told my wife not to use it because it started misfiring. I was in my buddy's car, and got close enough to see it wasn't her driving. Yeah, it was some guy I'd never seen, with her sitting shotgun. Had some thinking to do, but ended up sueing for divorce the next week. Flash forward 27 years, and my second wife told me to treat myself to a Z06 as a 50th birthday present. We've now been together for almost 40 years, and not once have I regretted my decision.

Nope, even my C5 could not help me!

The only way I was ever able to satisfy a woman was by leaving the room!
