Default C5's with 19" & 20" wheels - feedback on how it works

I had CCW's on my car which I just recently sold so I could buy some new wheels. I'm liking some wheels that only come in 19" fronts. I'd like to know if anyone has that size on their C5 and are there any problems running a wheel of that size. I'd probably just do 19's all around. I am having a little bit of seller's remorse. Show me some pics if you have that size combo.

19/19 is a great set up, I ran that on both of my last two c5's

On my third one, I will run a 19/20

As with all wheels your only issue is making sure you have the right offsets to avoid fitment issues, rubbing etc...

I run 19x10 front and 19x11 rear CCW 505a polished. Great setup but I will be selling them and going to a wide front and rear setup along with a C6 Z06 brake system.

Are your rears flush with the fender edge or are they inset a little? What size front tires are 19" front owners using? I have to decide on wheels soon. I put the stock Z wheels back on and they look way too small. I assume you have 305/30-19 rears.

I ran a 19/20 setup on the ‘00 I had and a 19/19 setup on my current C5. As long as you install the correct size tires to give you the proper stagger, there should be no problems. I never had any issues with either of those wheel size combinations.

19" all round (MRR GT5). We're $1,000 shipped and I'm very happy with them.

19/20 Cray wheels with 265/30/19 and 305/25/20 Nittos. Rode a bit stiff, but I was slammed on Zip bolts anyway. That is really what made the ride harsher.

19/19 275/305 35 series all around iirc.

I kinda like the look of the stagger more, but I don't like 20s and most of the 18" front setup guys have too much sidewall going on.

Considering going back to a 17/18 setup in something lighter.

I don't see the point of 19/20 unless you are running truly monstrous brakes underneath. Stick to 18/19 or even 18/18 if you can. Bigger wheels weigh more, and most of that weight is distributed in the worst place (the edges - that is, the barrel) for handling/etc; bigger wheels cost more; bigger wheels require thinner tires (unless you want to mess with your ratios) and thus reduce ride quality; 18/19 tires are thin enough, going thinner isn't getting you much.

The only technical reason I see for 19/20 is monster brakes (and a 14" brake will fit under an 18" wheel). Other than that, aesthetics, I guess.

It's 100% aesthetics. We don't have brakes for these cars that would require more than an 18, that said; the corvette was given a staggered setup during design FOR aesthetics; so to maintain that philosophy we see 18/19 setups; and thus 19/19 would have been the argued +1

GOOD large wheels are fairly light; but it's hard to beat less mass. Don't overlook tires however; not all weigh the same and THOSE are the outermost of rotating unsprung mass.

Choices are starting to get limited for custom wheels as manufacturers are concentrating more on C6's and C7's. I like the look of 19 fronts since I just sold my 18" CCW Classics and need new wheels. I always wished the Classics came in 19".

Rsbeast, that setup doesn't mess with the ECBM?

Surely he means "30" and not "35", as a 305/35R19 is about 27.5" tall. But, no, the heights are staggered, so the ECBM would be fine.

If you can't tell, I love a nice 19/20 setup. I have had about 3 or 4 different sets of 19/20 inch wheels and have had no problems with handling or with them adversely effecting the ride of the car to where I wanted to go with smaller sizes.

275/30/19's up front and 305/30/19's on the rear and they are Hankook Ventus. They are really, really close to flush but slightly inset and look perfect to me from any angle. I was really happy with that part the most.

This is a must read in my opinion: http://www.toquez06.com/wheels.html
