Thoughts on removing some previous owner mods?

Welcome to the Forum!
As you will see, we all have our own opinions but ultimately you'll have to decide what you like. And, what you like today, might change next year, too.
As for my $.02:
If the brake vents are functional, great, leave them and direct more air to the rear brakes. I would agree with seattle and Tsumi, if they are functional you are not posing. If they are not functional and you want to take them off, MAC5 gave some good insight.
For the smoked tail light covers, I'm not a fan unless you have good LED bulbs. As vetintheblood and deejbee pointed out you don't want to get rear ended. Also, in some states, it's illegal to tint any of the required running/safety lights.
MAC5 and tsumi also addressed your headlights. I agree that they appear to be the ACA housing which when properly set up will give you phenomenal night time lighting. Even with regular halogen bulbs they will still probably project better than the factory lights. If you do not like them and decide to sell your headlights, I feel comfortable in saying they should sell very easily (if priced properly).
And ~Josh addressed your wheels. Many like black wheels on a black Vette but others prefer chrome, polished aluminum, or even a satin finish aluminum.
Again, it's your car and it should be tailored to your preferences. While we all have opinions, and personal preferences, I believe we all respect that it's your car, and is "tailored" to your individual taste. Something apparently made you chose this car over others you have looked at, so it may be hitting a lot of your "likes" to start with.
Happy motoring in "your" Corvette!

I would like to keep the blacked out lights, but I'd also like to install LEDs. How much of a pain in the butt would it be to install a nice set of LEDs for the taillights, center brake light, reverse lights, and marker lights? Are there any specific LED sets you recommend?

if the vents are stick on & you want to take them off, PM me. I want them for a project!
as far as the black out covers being "unsafe"...... sure & cell phones give you cancer too so throw that away!
I'm coming up on 20 years of driving. Every vehicle I have owned has had black out taillights (all my cars, trucks, sport bikes, & harleys). I have never been rear-ended & to my recollection never even had a close call of someone locking up their brakes & almost hitting me.

I like the blacked out lights and I also had the covers on for a couple months when I first bought my car 10 years ago. I got really tired of taking them off all the time to clean the dust from between the lens and the covers. So I ditched them and just had my lights lightly tinted and cleared at my local body shop. Keep the ducts like others say only if they are functional. The headlights do look to be the ACA ones to me also. I'd probably keep those also and get brighter bulbs.

Just my .02 cents. Black is a SWEET color for a C5...however, Im not a fan of ALL one color. I dont like a black car, with black interior, black rims, and blacked out lighting covers...
To me, cars that look the best have "some" color contrast. If that were my car, here is what I would do:

- Leave the Z06 vents - they look sharp
- Put red tail lights back on - upgrade to LED if you want
- Buy or paint your calipers red (yellow or blue would work too)
- Remove the black paint off the rims
- Add some interior colors with accessories (leather door handle wraps, leather air bag grab handle wraps, center console covers, etc)...keep it simple to avoid getting gaudy...less is more.

Fwiw...
I agree with a previous poster on dumping the black rims. I'd also look at getting the smoked brake light. Of course I may be a bit prejudice. Welcome to the forum. You'll learn a ton here, including opinions, and we're not afraid to use them

I removed the black taillight covers to see how I liked the stock red lights. Turns out it looks really good! I'm going to leave the taillights red for now.
Stupid question time. How do I replace the low beam headlights on these aftermarket units? What bulb do I need and how do I get it out?

If they are the stock halogen bulbs, then it is H9. Remove the black shroud around the headlights, and there should be enough room to stick your hand in and remove the bulb.

if your ducts are functional and you decide you don't want them, I've got a black coupe and live in Orange County too and would swap you rockers. let me know.

Congrats on the new ride. It's your ride - make it yours! If you like the vents, keep them. If not, bye bye (unless they function). Same goes for the taillight covers. I'm a minimalist when it comes to cosmetic changes, but that's me.

While we're on the subject of mods, I'm not sure if this is a factory stock interior color scheme or if this has been altered in some way. All the other C5s I've seen have all black interiors. Is this red/black combo from GM? Either way I totally love it.

The Mod Red interior was a factory option on the C5 Z06. I don't think it was an option for the other models. It is a popular swap out mod though. Looks great IMO.
