I agree that it sounds great, but I have the same cat-back, but no headers (yet?). From here, it doesn't sound much different -- how much difference from immediate vicinity?

The corsa sport is a pretty tame axle back I agree. That is why I wanted more sound out of mine. The sound gets loud when you get in it. But when you back off you will get some pops and bangs. I am pretty pleased with how my car sounds now when I get on it. And it goes back to its usuall quiet sound at cruising highway speed. But get on it and the headers let you know there, there.

What is the final end of project expense for both time and money on this? Was there anything you had to do with this set that wouldn't be needed on a "name-brand" set?

Long tubes typically mellow out the sound at low load, many of my cars got quieter just for cruise driving with them. But when the car is WOT and at load, they're significantly louder.

Labor wise I have a weeks time in this. but that is working an hour here and an hour there. total install time for me a non professional mechanic I would put it at bout 12 hours of unbroken install time.
costs wise is this
2 1/2 pipe 6 foot stick -$20
2- O2 extensions 17.99 from Amazon prime
12 stainless bolts and nuts and lock washers $25 I replaced all included bolts with kit. after mockup mainly beacuse if i wanted that stuff to come back apart I figured I had better pony up for stainless hardware. but the factory bolts with kit was adequate for assembly.
10 dollars for wiring covering that i needed to replace due to heat damage from stock manifolds.
2 12617944 chevy performance gaskets $17
other miscellaneous items like my temp sensors were not required but i advise changing them while you are there.
so i would say about 150 extra in miscellaneous parts and I have no idea what might be needed with a name brand set cause i have never installed a set and each manufacturer is going to be different in what they include

Stainless screws into stainless nuts can result in galling pretty easily. Never fun.

Well they are performing well. And so far I am happy with the install. I have not tuned it yet. Yes my check engine light is on. But it's running real well so far. My appt with the tuner is dec 4. Believe I am going to change to the 160 tstat before I go to tuner, so I can make fan changes in the tune.

Car is tuned now. I am very happy with the performance and sound out of the car now. No I do not have proof of performance gain on car, but you can tell when you mash the go fast pedal, that there is a little more pep in the car.

A little more pep? I have LG Longtubes and the power gain especially torque gain is sublime. I would be making an understatement if I said I gained a ton of power.

I did not want to embellish, but it did wake the car up a lot. I can not wait to get my cam and heads on, but I am torn between putting bilsteins on all 4 corners and poly bushings all the way around, or get the motor work done then do suspension and brakes.
What a fun car though!!!

The gain from headers and a tune is less substantial than the gain from having a heavy passenger and full tank of gas, to no passenger and a quarter tank.

Is the passenger an elephant in your example?I went from 13.2 stock to 12.68 after headers and Vararam only .. no tune... on a worse 60ft time

But would you still run a 12.7 with a 225 lb. passenger and a topped off tank?
Pretty much always true that the least expensive performance improvement is a diet. Just a LOT more work than bolting on hot rod parts.
At least for me...

I will lookover everything this weekend. Probably be a week or two before I begin install. Trying to figure out what I will need for install. These are the headers I posted on the first page from Amazon
I've been looking hard at this set of Ebay headers. Seems clear that the flanges are straight. This is not the only photo of these headers showing straight flanges and good welds. YouTube if full of such similar reviews. Thanks for posting these images.

Do you need Grade-8 bolt hardware for headers?
