Greats posts man!!
Thanks for all the pics and info! Amazon had these for $250 shipped as well(not sure if they still do). Good to know they fit without too much hassle. Def worth the price IMO.

Tell me a little more about your setup. I'm assuming by the pics, you deleted the cats? You ran the front o2 sensors and then just remove the rear ones? Will you take it to a tuner to turn off the check eng light due to the cat removal?

Thanks in advance.

They are cats, or at least chambers just behind the primary collectors in the pics.

My car is a basic 2001 stock coupe. My plan is to slowly upgrade the car. But I figured header would be first place to start. but i got a big present a couple days before i ordered these someone backed into my vette while it was parked and took off. well the wife surprised me and ordered these. I had them in my cart on amazon and she ordered.

I did remove my cats those things in the picture's are the resonators in the kit with the headers. it gives you a way to unbolt the x-pipe from the headers and the axle back exhaust. There is no emissions in Oklahoma. I ordered O2 sensors extensions off of Amazon as well. and they will be installed. I am hoping to pull off the pieces today and have my son weld them up. he works locally as a welder, fabricator.
we will be using a mig he has a small mig welder. once i get it all together i will start it and take it to my mechanic and he will do the tune for me for 200. and that is basically my plan. if you all have questions feel free to ask or pm them to me. i will do my best to answer your questions the best i can. I decided to take the pics and post to help other guys like me, that can not quite pony up the cost of a grand for headers and x pipe. I have no clue if these headers will produce horsepower gains or not, I wanted them for the sound when driving the car. I wanted more noise. I am not a professional mechanic either I am an HVAC guy by trade. So yes i have experience turning wrenches but not on automobiles unless they are mine. i got the majority of the work done in less than a weeks time. and it really was not to hard or aggravating to do the work. just take your time.
Hope that helps

I have a set of these at home, they are resonators, not cats.

Just gotta say this is a great thread. Tons of pics, loads of info; hats off to you OP, job very well done. Particularly of importance for those curious and without funds to spend $2K on a set.
Appreciate your work (and I already have headers)!

Ive had the Ebay/Monza on for 2 years. Stainless and have been holding up great. Id recommend better gaskets though. Mine were shot when I got my heads/cam work done.

All welded up

Just a heads up for anyone taking this to have it welded make several marks on each joint to be welded, so if things move you can put back together before welding. And measure distance between resonators to know it is put together right at welding shop. The pipes will move when you move the assembly.

Sideview with jacking puck to show how far the headers are below bottom
It looks like more but it is only about ,1/2 inch
Rear view everything went together well I think

Everything looks good!

I think its definitely noteworthy that one big factor in the extra cost of premium brands is gonna be quality control and the consistency to which headers are perfect, as well as customer support post purchase.

Just want to say That I am not trying to knock on american producers of stainless performance exhaust systems. I have a Corsa sport axle back on my car. I turn wrenches for a living at 47 years of age, I'm not rich by any means But I knew if I could make a cheaper exhaust system work on my car, then the money saved will buy me a BTR stage 1 cam and valve spring set to add to the lightly used 243 heads i picked up. and while I have it apart I will do the Balancer and chain and pin the crank. Yes I still have a cheap exhaust on the car, but it will be a faster car with a cheap exhaust I was just trying to give a little back to the forum for helping me out when I became a Corvette owner. and the late fall and winter is the best time to work on your cars in the garage.

I have a hard time understanding what the longterm issue will be with a "cheap exhaust" especially on a fun car that isn't driven in all conditions. Sure, material quality might lead to issues down the road? But once it's installed and everything is fine...I don't really see how the cheap exhaust is a hindrance. It's pipes guys.

I like your approach to modifications. We all have budgets...spend the money where it'll get you the best return. Your car will rip with a BTR Stage I cam and 243's.

I did BTR Stage 2 and CNC'd 243's and the car is nuts. Even with the crappy cheap Chinese exhaust.
