Default Proper Oil Pressure AFTER an Oil Change?

Hey guys,

I completed my first oil change and very proud of myself since I have zero mechanical skills.

After the oil change, I ran the car in my garage to check for leaks - NONE! Then I took the car our for a quick drive and noticed the idle pressure was around 40 and when driving it I saw it go to about 48...

Are those pressure readings all good?

Sounds fine to me. Oil pressure is always a bit higher right after an oil change. It will settle in to it's normal range quickly.

When and if it reads wrong it's usually a defective o/p sending unit which is fun to change

I disagree that you have zero mechanical skills.

You are at least a 2 out of 10. (no leaks!).
You would be a 1 out of 10 if you caused a leak.
You would be a zero out of 10 if you told a story about how a quick lube place did an oil change on your vette.

The oil pressure your car is showing seem OK to me. Mine reads about the same.

Yes - the rear Jack Stands were raised three "clicks" higher than the Jack Stands in the front.

I used 2x6x24 boards between the car and the Jack Stands

The bolt was hard to twist at first, but that's because I didn't have the car high enough - raised it up some more and then I had enough room to maneuver for the proper leverage.

The filter came off with only hand pressure, although I had a filter removal tool ready to go if needed...

As of today, the floor under the car is still bone dry - no leaks!!!

Another 1/2 point to you if you torqued the plug to factory spec (18 ft/lb). Spark plugs next--You can do it! By the way, your oil pressure looks good. By the by the way: Did you reset the oil life readout?
