4.8 Land Speed Project
Building 1999 FRC for Land Speed record attempt. The engine is a 4.8 L20 with pistons and rods. Considering Nitrous installation. Wheels are the big issue. Does anyone know steel wheels for C5-s?

Not sure on the wheel selection, but since it's the common Chevy 5x4.75 bolt pattern, you should be able to find something. The tough part will be clearing the front brakes.

Guess I should add that we race as Fairway Motorsports. Team is made up by me, my brother Tom, his sons Joe and Cliff. We have set land speed records at Bonneville, Loring, Maxton and Ohio. All with motorcycles but Tom and I decided it was time to switch over to cars.

Stock C5 Corvettes go 160 mph in a mile and a half. This is timed with certified equipment. They come with C motors ( 6 liter limit). I am downsizing to D motor (5 liter limit). I am considering Nitrous Oxide but will put in fuel class and have to run in Modified Sports

Lightest wheels you can find will be OEM magnesium, otherwise standard OEM or TSW wheels would be sufficient...unless of course you really want to go high dollar.

Pretty off-topic...but I think I may know your brother and his son.. Does Dowling ring a bell? I don't expect a reply in the thread to further derail it.
