Best tire deal? Hankook V12, NT05, Nitto 555, etc
I need a set of rear tires and would like to get them this week or shortly after. I drive the car daily. Its an automatic, has a Vararam intake and long tube headers. I have a 150 shot of nitrous I spray time to time. I'm looking for something with enough traction to get power to the ground if I spray around 40-50 mph, but realize it might be difficult to meet that expectation.
The Hankook Ventus Evo V12's seem to get a lot of praise on this board. They are around $175 per rear tire @ 275/40/18
The Nitto NT05 are a bit more hardcore and are currently $199 a tire per rear tire @ 275/40/18
Nitto 555's are $178 per rear tire @ 275/40/18.
I drive highway miles to and from the medical school, about 50-75 miles a day. I'd like to get some pork mileage out of these tires, but I'd also like to be able to enjoy my nitrous at WOT.
Which of these 3 tire sets do you think I'd be happiest with? If you know a similar performance tire that is in the $200+/- $20 price range, let me know! Thanks guys!

Never have owned the Nitto brand of tires and certainly do not have a power supplement like nitrous. I do however have the Hankooks on my car and really like them. Great ride and handling and the treadwear rating is very good.

Whatever you decide, Discount Tire is having Black Friday sales all next week, so they say. I've been speaking with them this past week because I'll be placing an order with them this coming week for tires for the new wheels I ordered for my car.

Don’t go with 275. A 295 will fit easily. I run those in a square set-up. The NT05s I run wouldn’t be any good in cold and not much better in the wet. I have the Hankooks in 295 on my rear street wheels. They are OK.

how much power is your car making on spray?

I had a set of Hankook V12's installed on mine around the 4th of july. I really like them. Super quiet compared to the run flats that came off.
My car is 100% stock though so I don't know how they'll perform for you.

Previous owner put Ventus V12s on the car, and I really loved them. They hook up pretty well and get some good wet weather traction. I autocrossed with them a bunch and consistently got within 2 seconds of a couple of guys in my class. At that point I decided to finally splurge on some RE-71Rs and while they're awesome, I'm planning on going with a square setup of 315s and replacing them with Rival-S and my daily set of rims will get the Ventus V12s back on them because I really loved them for everyday riding that wasn't autocrossing.
When these wear down I'll be some V12s in a heartbeat.

You might want to read up on the Nitto Invos. Had an almost new set on my car when I picked 'er up in May, after 9k miles they aren't very sticky anymore but they had incredible grip for the first 5-7k. I like turning the tires over and dailied the car for 6 or 7 weeks so their life was unfairly shortened, I am tempted to buy them again when I spring for 18s and 19s, they were even decent in the rain but just incredibly sticky - dead hook from clutch dump @ 3500. My car has a Torquer 2 cam, headers/Corsa and no cats, made 397whp and I drive it like I mean it almost every time I turn the key.

I'm on my second set of Hankook V12's. I like the newer tire design which replaced the earlier design. When it comes to tires, Hankook's are the most tire for the money.

the hankook v12 and nitto nt05/invo are all great tires that I have used... I currently have the v12's on the front of my z06 and all around on my daily... the reason I was asking how much power you are making on nitrous is because I'm not sure if any of the tires mentioned will dead hook from a 40 roll... the nt05 may be your best bet but they will wear out the fastest out of the tires mentioned

I have 2 sets of wheels, my stock c5zs and a set of forgestar f14s in the standard 18/19.
Currently have the stocks on, with near bald re760s on the fronts that came with the car. replaced the rear nt05rs with nt555rs. cant speak for the nt05rs as they were done for with enough tread when I got them. I am however enjoying the 555rs. once they heat up they hook pretty good from any rpm with my power (roughly 390 with headers).
my f14s have hankook ventus v12 evo2s on both front and back. the rears are looking like I can milk them for almost 20k miles total, the fronts ive gone through 2 sets. first set was brand new, second set used. I live near a good canyon, so I frequent as much as my tires/brakes would allow. with stock alignment the fronts wore fast on the outside. I do need a more aggressive alignment, but even then they were worn all around, just more so on the outside. I'm taking a chance and bought some federal 595 rs-rr for the fronts, and have heard decent things about them. for the price I got them for its worth it to me to find out.

Drifting
I have the Hankook v12's and will echo what others are saying. Very nice tires for the money, good traction, fairly low noise, and decent ride. Treadwear is supposed to be good but that remains to be seen. I don't put on enough miles so tires may get too old before the tread wears off.

The Hankooks are fine for street tires, they've been my go-to for years. But they're in no way comparable to the NT05, which is a 200 treadwear tire (vs. 340 for the Ventus V12). I use NT05s as my track tires (good compromise between grip and durability, I drive 120 miles each way to the track), and they're not very good in the rain.
