Don't worry. I usually do. There is a reason the car was not a success.

The SSR was introduced as a 2004 model on New Year's Eve 2003.[2] In spite of marketing efforts which included the SSR being used as the pace car for the 2003 Indianapolis 500[citation needed], it sold below expectations with under 9,000 sales at US$42,000 each. Citing a 301-day supply of SSRs, General Motors in December of that year announced five weeks of layoffs at Lansing Craft Center, the factory that made the SSR. On November 21, 2005, GM announced that it would close the Craft Center in mid-2006, spelling the end for the SSR. The final SSR, a unique black-on-silver model (Highest VIN 1GCES14H06B124112), was built on March 17, 2006.[3] Analysts estimate that 24,150 SSRs were produced in total. Of the total production, 24,112 were available for sale to the public.

Drifting
No resemblance? Dude I can agree they are not even close to being as nice as an original but the body lines are very clear. The resemblance is there. Instead of looking at the entire car, try pattern recognition.

Thank you for the hint!
Thank you - I know it's hard to be critical of any restoration when you try to compare it to the original! It's going to be nearly impossible to please everyone. But by pattern recognition you can see where they really focused on getting the lines correct.

Well that is Frank Feedback!

Not a success and ugly?! I'll just have to hide this thread from the car owner, but I do appreciate the frank feedback. Love the honesty, pull no punches. Now that I've played nice....I hate that "give me a ticket" standard red on your vette, so ugly! Kidding, I had my own ride red so long it faded to a nice challenger orange shade.

We were talking about the Chevy SSR. He likes it and I understand why it was a failure.

Oh I completely misread, OK now seeing the photos. How can you not like the SSR, or as I call it, the Super-Stupid Retrograde. I'll have to agree it was beat with the ugly stick. But hey, I love the fact everyone finds beauty in something different.
Or just add flames and turn anything bad-***:

Safety Car
There are a handful of kits to turn a C5 into a C1/2 or hybrid mix.
Some are better than others, but eventually you'll find one for sale for about half the price on craigslist.

The 2019 wing ads almost 1000 pounds of down-force, so it's quite practical. At least if you are on the track. Those earlier wings weren't about the downforce, they were just so darn pretty (cough cough

Thanks. My truck is a 1952 model. On a related note there is a chassis kit available (and for several other applications) that mates C5 drivetrain/suspension components with the sheetmetal from my truck. If my car's body/frame meet an untimely demise I won't be shedding tears but instead be making lemonade!

Can really see the similarity between the '52 and my '05 SSR as that was the template. Oh BTW the reason the SSR had an early exit was because it cost more to build (the closest mass produced vehicle to be hand built) than anticipated and had to passed on to the consumer that balked at the high price tag. In Canada they were $70,000- back in '05!! It was more expensive than a Corvette at the time. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, lol.
