My 1998 C5 coupe lasted me for several years and when I traded it in with 130,000 miles it had life left.
However, you should know there are some drawbacks. For 1997-98 the cylinder heads and the ECU were dis-continued and the brake module found on the rear end have no GM parts support.

I sold it because of the reasons you listed. GM stopped making replacement parts and they would not license to outside companies.

My 99 DD 100miles day X6 days a week 135k enjoy going to work 2am being 6’4” enjoy this car every time I fire it up! Drove my 88 up to 250k only sold when seen my C5! Yeah I’m one of the rare who likes wagon wheels but that’s another post! I believe if you drive and take care of a car! It will get you there! But Vettes are the **** bra!
