turn signal bulb replacement
I tend to have a shop do pretty much everything, but I think I should be up to the task of replacing a light bulb, shouldn't I? The right front turn signal bulb is out. What bulb do I need to replace it? Is it a simple job?

You can do it! You need to either jack it up or run up a ramp. pull the plastic cover under the light and work your hand up. Twist the socket and pop it out. Not hard at all.

: Or if your arms are small enough turn on the headlights and go in that way, remember you have 7 minutes to do this before the lights close.

If you have small hands (like me), you can go in through the front brake ducts. Just reach in and push the duct down out of the way, then reach up and push in the locking clip and turn socket. Use your right hand for the passenger side and left hand for the driver side.
First time going in through the brake ducts, it took me almost half an hour and lots of choice words because I did not know what to feel for and was trying to turn the socket the wrong way. It now takes me less than a minute to swap either bulb.

OK, now that you guys have told me what bulb to get and 3 ways to do the job, I think I can find my way. I have a jack and jack stands, and have small hands, so I think I'll try the first way. The idea of having to get it done in 7 minutes makes me nervous.
Thanks to all who chimed in.
Now where do I go to get that bulb?

Any auto parts store. Autozone, Pepboys, etc. And probably your local Walmart ! Or if you are strictly a OEM type any Chevy/GM dealer...if you want to spend more.

You won't need jack stands to go through the front air duct. Right hand for the driver side, left hand for the pax.
To do it correctly, you'll need to install a hyperflash harness first, and then replaced the bulbs with switchback LEDs.
Once you see the socket, you'll see why!!

Here's how: Take it easy and slow, if a decrepit 71 YO ATP can do it......so can you. Bring band aids!!
Here's where: Probably some vendors here....or.....
Put "corvette c5 hyperflash harness" in the search box of the auction site.

If you buy switchbacks, make sure they are not the ‘tall’ ones, they wont fit inside the housing. Also, on YouTube, look up “The Junkman” and c5 front signal replacement. He has big hands but still uses the front duct method.

What is that 7 minutes you are talking about.
If you turn the headlights on then back the switch one notch to turn the headlights off but keep them up, you have all the time you need to change the bulbs.
I am pretty sure my headlights were in that position way more than 7 minutes
I removed both plastic bezels surrounding the headlight and reached in and replaced all 4 bulbs on both sides to LED. There was definitely no timer on my project.
Easy peasy !!! There are YT video with this method and no mention of a 7 minute limit.
