One thing is 100% certain if and when I buy a C7...Body Color Painted Rear Facia.... IMO the way it comes from the factory makes it look like part of the back is missing, when viewed from a distance.
I will leave the tail light trim black though.
To me it looks MUCH BETTER painted.

Don't let the "problems" scare you. There aren't as many problems as people make it out to sound. It's just that all of the people with problems come to the forum to talk about it, so it makes it sound like there are a lot.
Find the car you like. You can always buy the wheels you want separately. Especially those 5 spoke base model wheels can be found all over and cheap.

I do plan on getting a C7 eventually and will probably skip getting a C6 just because the C6 for me was more of an evolutionary design change over the C5 than the C7 was over the C6. Having driven a C6 I feel if I moved into a C6 I wouldn't feel much different over say moving into a C7, and plus I would of for sure want a '08 + model which are still holding in there unless they have sky high mileage.
I'm gunning for Laguna Blue also, but not an automatic ("save the manuals!"). I wouldn't worry too much about a particular set of wheel option or similar. It's going to be a few generations before C7s are anywhere near valuable so you might as well buy it and do what you want to it.
I'm not getting rid of my C5 so I have to justify having two Corvettes in the garage which is a bit difficult when my C5 currently is not daily duty. I'm considering a lift to keep one out of the way when I eventually do buy.

I have given that wheel option a lot of thought mainly because I'm one who likes to take my car out even in the winter, as long as there is no Brine, Salt or Snow on the roads and with those "Summer Only" tires on the C7 I wouldn't want to take any chances.

Yeah I know how a lot of guys feel about the look of the rear, I was one of them but I have to admit, it has grown on me. I felt the same way when the C5 first came out. Hated that huge ugly *** rear facia....LOVE IT NOW

I keep my C5 just to remind me what a Corvette rear end ''should'' look like. The C7 is an amazing ride, but I'm still disappointed with the styling of the tail lamps.

Definitely get a lift. I got mine just for storage, but actually use it more than I thought.

I pulled the trigger but kept my C5. I say at age 68 you only go around once, there are no do overs.
And here's how I keep them.

Sorry but I just don't get it (C7 bug).
When I look at the clean lines of the C5, I just don't feel the need for a C7 with the angular look.
And good used parts for the C5 are easy to source since they are getting parted out every day (or turned into dedicated track cars).
Add the C7 price tag and problems to the mix..... not me.

Yeah, I don't get it either...can't stand the looks of the C7...way too transformer-ish looking for my tastes...I much prefer the smooth, curvy lines of the C5...
