Heater core bypass?
With the heat on I have been smelling antifreeze in the cabin. Don't see any fluid on the passenger side floor. But strongly suspect the heater core is leaking.
From what i understand it is quite expensive to replace it. As well as once the dash comes apart it might never be as solid and squeak free again.
Have heard that an easy fix is to by pass the heater core. Looking for any info on this.

that is at least a bandaid to keep the coolant from circulating through the firewall. you basically just pull the two hoses (one runs from the Y fitting at the water pump to the firewall) off the heater core & "butt-splice" them together with a tube fitting.
