Roof painted/wrapped
Hey all,
Interested to see any z06 with the entire roof painted or wrapped a different color than the rest of the car. I can find c6 pictures all day, but not c5. My car is EB so if that would be the best to see, but I'd like to see anything. Also, would like to keep this as c5 z06 only. Thanks

I personally do not like it, but you are not here for my opinion.
I could only find a few google pics, silver is the closest, not a single EB Z.
And good luck, there will be C5 coupe pics soon to follow, and if you are lucky, maybe some HIGH RISE SUPA DUPA HOOD pics too......

Visually it silences part of the car. From a distance, or at low light, the car looks like a sled going down the street. I think the "halo" look is dated and unattractive personally, which is why not many have done it. If you like it though, have a blast.

So the back of the car is painted "hippo gray"... It basically looks like the bumper on the second picture that 98C5P posted . I am actually looking into having the bumper done in an american flag type wrap where the gray will show through in lieu of the red stripes. The blue behind the stars would be black, and the stars and white stripes are going to be as close to electron blue as possible.
Once that is done, I will determine whether I want to do the roof or not.

I loved how my 4th gen z28 looked with the black roof (white body/black roof) and I do enjoy the coupes with the black halo, but the z06 imo looks best when the halo is body colored. I haven’t seen one that I personally thought looked better with the painted roof.

This is just my opinion so take it for that. I think changing the entire roof to a different color is not going to look good on the car. But, if you go with a wrap, at least it can be easily removed should you decide after a while that it is not for you. Good luck and post up pics if you do make the change.

But love the pic above.
Wrap on top of an FRC done well is the chitz.
Pics will follow for sure. hopefully the well done one for around MD IIRC?

Thanks for posting the photos, AndersT. Looks great.
Also liked your Clubs web site but unfortunately the only word that I recognized was "Velkommen".
Was in Copenhagen some years ago and didn't see any Corvettes. All the local news was about the Little Mermaid being vandalized once again.

Here is an option that may work for you.....Paper and tape off the entire car except the Halo, Plasti-Dip it in black. If you like it get it painted. If not, pull off the Plasti-dip and you're back to a body colored Halo.
What's it gonna cost you? Several bucks for the Plasti-Dip and masking tape. Sure beats paying big bucks to get it painted only to realize you're not happy with it.

The two-tone cars look slick! I think I will do this to mine.
How did the transition from the decklid to the halo turn out? I was thinking about covering the paint line with weather strip or vinyl pinstripe but I might be worrying over a non-issue.

It's what I have in mind for mine. All I have now is the see through top that has to go before summer here in South Carolina. Still going back and forth as to whether to go with black on my yellow C5, or do a carbon fiber wrap. From a distance it already looks like a black top, and to me doesn't look bad.

Melting Slicks
I had my roof painted and love the look on my yellow Z. It's one of those things that you either love it or hate it, but I think it has alot to do with the color of the car as well. I opted to go the painted route because to me plasti-dip looks cheap and a wrap just doesn't have the "pop" I was looking for like a clear coat would.

Obviously not a 'Z', but I ended up doing a carbon fiber wrap on the roof, mirrors, a couple hash marks, and rear fascia. Also carbon fiber lettering on the rear and front.

IMO, every Corvette pictured in this thread looks great....except yours. Again, just IMO, black just doesn't work with blue. There has been tons of discussions on this forum about black rims on Corvettes. I for one like them, except for on blue or black Corvettes. Polished aluminum or chrome looks great with the darker colors.
