Default yokahoma tires

I bought a 2000 convertible with Yokahoma Sport tires that look new. I notice on one side the wrong side of tire is facing outward according to printing on side wall. Is this a big deal or not? Thanks for any comments.

I would have it corrected, obviously the tire is running backwards from the way it was designed, hopefully you don't end up back where it was previously installed.

so when you swap them....do they go to the other side so the direction of rotation stays the same?

Asymmetric or directional tire? An asymmetric tire mounted the wrong way will have greater wear and shortened tread life. A directional tire will just have worse wet weather traction, dry weather traction won't be affected.

If inside/outside is printed on the wall, I'm inclined to believe they are asymmetrical tires. You will have to take them off the rim to get it corrected.

I run Nitto Invo which is an asymmetrical design. Not pictured.

so do you need to keep the improperly mounted asymmetric tire turning in the same direction? if so doesnt that mean you need swap sides when you remount them.

Asymmetric tires are not directional, though you can get asymmetric tires that are directional (very rare). If you have a square setup, asymmetric tires can be rotated to any position on the car. So to answer your question, no, they do not need to be kept turning in a certain direction.

Thanks for responses. I will correct them before I run them much more. I can't believe a shop would do that.
