Under Hood liner alternatives
Hi folks, I painted my original hood liner which was not in the greatest shape and After a year of living with it I’m not real happy. I was wondering what others have done aside from buying a new oem hood liner. In addition what materials would withstand underhood heat, since I was thinking of some kind of wrap.

OK...just for chits and giggles...no hood liner...you do not need one
Mine was already clear coated over the black carbon fiber but it would have looked great painted red if it wasn't carbon fiber.
On a regular hood like yours, painted will look great...I still have my regular hood and I had the underneath painted red for one sad day when I remove the MCM and go back to stock...it will happen someday and I will then be happy with my hood painted underneath

Here's what I did.
But, if you do not want to spend that much, a new hoodliner is about $150 (perhaps less) or just painting the underside of the hood and leaving the hoodliner off is an option.

Thanks Jack. I can do some stuff with paint but nothing like that. I’ve heard that buying the liner thru a Chevy dealer avoids huge shipping costs.
Btw, on another topic, I wasn’t to delete my thread for the sale of my C7 replica rims. Is that possible?

I removed mine, it looks much better without it in my opinion

Charlie...you do not need a hood liner...many many C5 owners just paint underneath the hood and that looks great!...That's what I was going to do right before I got my "you know what" hood...

My original liner was in poor condition so I bought a new one at Gale GMC/Buick. Saved shipping and the box was huge, much bigger than the liner. Good thing I still had my truck on the road to get it home. I paid just a little more than a hundred for it.

Gold reflective tape is not only the most efficient material for blocking heat, but it is also very thin, and incredibly light. I had a bunch left over from doing tunnels on race cars a few years ago, so I did mine up. These are old pics, it is all flat and even now.

Yep...not painted a color... real CF but clear coated....some people chose to leave the CF raw underneath the hood...the previous owner of mine chose to clear coat the CF and I like what he had done...
