Just got done installing. Here are some pics, not the best as I took them quick and lighting wasn't great. Review to follow...

Here is my review. I received the bezel last night and pulled the Z in the garage this afternoon. The installation wasn't just an easy swap out but well worth the effort. I have had two other double dins prior to this one, one from Marc before, that I accidentally cracked and one Double D mods bezel that I never liked the looks of the finish. This bezel requires slight relocation of your head unit to fit properly. I had to move my head unit up about 1/4 inch from prior mounting and it was a tight fit. I modified the brackets on the side by trial fitting the bezel and seeing where the head unit had to go, loose fitting it into the dash so I could still move it slightly as needed while installing the new bezel. Be very careful as here is where you can break the the tabs at the top of the bezel that hold it close to the rest of the dash once it is installed. After 2 or 3 trial runs I ended up hitting my side brackets with a dremel tool to allow raising of the head unit and then drilled new holes in in the brackets and securing with self tapping screws to make the head unit secure at the right location. It was definitely worth the extra effort as it fits nice now and looks pretty good. The finish is awesome. It looks like it belongs on the car and the fitment is about as good as you can get and I am extremely pleased with the results.

The fit was great. Texture is almost perfect. I did have to drop the a/c control head about an 1/8 of an inch to appease my OCD. Hardest part was the trial and error of adjusting the radio to the opening. The bezel itself fit perfectly, all holes, clips and pins lined up. Only disappointment I have is I was really hoping for a new coozie, mine is worn out, lol. Thanks Vettenuts, well worth the wait. Now i have to save up for the Vettenuts sub boxes.[ATTACH]48267772

Agreed! The fitment to all other parts on the car is perfect. Your pic shows the great texture of the bezel well, also. I noticed the temp control issue also and agree that the opening for it was slightly off. Once I got it all together though I think the only one that notices is me. Best thing to say is expect a little fine tuning in terms of getting the head unit and AC control to fit perfect, but the bezel fits so well with everything else that it is worth the effort. It fits way better than the last two I had.

Still waiting on my shipping info but I prepped the dash in the mean time. Read somewhere that the alternate method to remove the bracket instead of using a drill was a SAWZALL. Well it worked great, 10 minutes start to finish.

My bigger issue was that I needed to change my flasher switch while I had this all apart anyway. I did it without pulling the dash pad another handy tip via the Forum. What a PIA, glad my first one lasted 19 years and 170k miles.

Update: I received my Pioneer radio and Bezel on Friday around 5:00. My son and I had it installed by 9:00. We had already figured out the wiring, where to land the power lead and the antenna male lead size change. This unit looks like it was factory installed.
Thanks Vettenuts for great service and a quality upgrade.

Would appreciate more details on what tuning was needed and just how you did this. Would likely save many of us a bunch of time

I wish I would have took pictures of the process. My bad. I had a double din bezel before, actually two, one was Vettenuts former version and one from Double D Mods so the initial process of making the cavity for the head unit was already done. The reason for getting a third bezel was that I accidentally cracked the first one and I never liked the finish on the Double D bezel.

The main difference between the first two bezels and the new one from Vettenuts is my head unit fit in the same position on the first two bezels. This new bezel required me to move it up about 1/8 to 1/4 inch in order for it to fit. I have two L shaped metal side brackets that attach to the head unit and secure it into the dash. In moving the head unit up, I was forced to drill two new holes in the dash to secure the head unit at a higher location. My AC control was also off ever so slightly but I felt not noticeable enough to force me to move it. If this is a virgin installation for anyone, (going from stock head unit to double din), you probably won't experience this problem. You will be fitting the new head unit to new bezel for the first time and it will require some trial and error anyway. For first timers I believe there is youtube video or link on here somewhere that shows what you need to do to get a double din installed for the first time. For all that are doing a swap out and already have a double din, you may find that adjusting the head unit and/or AC control just a touch might be required.

Thanks for the detailed info. My install will be from stock to DD and I haven't seen the youtube video. But it always helps when those who have already accomplished a mod let the rest of us know what happened.

My bezel just arrived. Top quality.

Now I have to choose a head unit. I want one with NAV and a USB input so I can listen to music from my thumb drive.

My bezel arrived today. I will find out this weekend how close it is and post a review. Texture, along with ashtray door and cup holder door and rubber inserts are perfect so far.

I assume any double din head unit will fit regardless of screen size?

I have installed 4 of the Pioneer units so far, I like them a lot for the money. I also like having a DVD in the head unit for the wives music, 4.3G holds a LOT of songs! My stuff is on a flash drive.
