Corsa Sport Exhaust System

Corsa Sport Exhaust System
Installed new Corsa Sport system not happy. Sound almost like stock. Want good sound at idle and on road. Not so loud can’t talk to passenger, but will turn some heads. Would extrem system be better? Suggestions?

is the rest of your car stock?... if so that might be part of the problem... if you plan to add headers and/or a cam later down the line you may feel differently about the sports... if you plan to leave the car stock then the xtremes might be more suitable but with mods the xtremes can be too much, personally I love mine though... so if you are going to mod it more in the future you might hang onto the sports until that point and then see how you feel about them... if you still don't like the sports after the mods then you will have no problems selling them

Plans are to keep stock. Would xtremes muffler fit in place of sport mufflers? Or purchase xtreme axle back system and sell sport system.
Thanks.

the xtremes are a completely different design but corsa doesn't sell pieces separately as far as I know so you would need to buy the whole system regardless

I have the Corsa Indy Pace Car exhaust on my '03, which was the predecessor to the Sport. Unless they have drastically changed the sound between the two systems, the Indy Pace Car is definitely not a stock sounding exhaust. At full throttle the exhaust simply screams. It even sounds much better at idle and partial throttle to me.
But I am not sure I have heard the sound of the current Sport system.

cutouts should make more power so they won't hurt performance, the only downfall is when the electronics fail and it either gets stuck open or won't open at all

I believe the sport is the replacement or renaming of the pace car. Regardless the old Touring and the Pace Car (Sport) are louder than stock even with stock everything else. The thing with the Corsa though is they are designed to be quiet at idle and cruising speeds but really open up when you step on it. It sounds to me like you may have wanted to go with the Extreme system.

If your exhaust system is otherwise stock, you can experience the "motorboat" sound that some feel is underwhelming, or you can install a X-pipe only, which will require some welding. Personally, I would buy a complete system, which includes LT headers, and your choice of cats/no cats X-pipe. This will bolt up to your present catback, and really wake up performance, and exhaust note. Yeah, it costs money, but if you're one of the newbs, just remember, some of us paid over $40k for our Corvettes.

However, since I have the Corsa axle back, would a Corsa X pipe require welding?

On a stock C5 it will be a little louder than stock. If you are going to leave it stock see if you can find someone in {parts for sale} section on the forum that will trade you for a Corsa Extreme.

When I first put on the Corsa a few years ago ( don’t remember which system but I asked for the quieter of the two) I thought it sounded stock. But since, I’ve added vararam, long tube headers, high flow cats and x pipe. System is now much louder with a distinct rasp. Glad I started with the quieter system.

Probably, the stock midpipe would have to be cut, so... The bad news; with only an x-pipe, the sound quality changes, but the volume level doesn't. The factory midpipe is where the factory cats are.
