Trans fittings (photos wanted)
I'm looking for installed pics of the different types of fittings on the steel transmission lines going into the radiator. Mostly interest in the 1997-2000 era but I'll take anything you find to be original.
Here is one from 2004
(oh, you don't have to disconnect it like above)

Ok, while I wait for a 1997-2000 photo, I will pose this question to the 2001-2004 group.
Has anyone tried to take this fitting apart?
It looks like there is a nut, that holds the tube in, and the body. I colored the fitting to show my theory. I guess you would have to destroy the body to get them apart since it has no wrench flats to hold it.
Later C6 they switched to the retaining clip

When I was trying to find a way to fit my 2003 lines to a Dewitts Rad from my 99 I was never able to find the correct adapter. But in many online conversations about this, I was told over and over that the 2003 lines have a quick release that requires a special tool to slide around the tubing and into the male fitting to release the line........I never found a release tool that worked and I tried several QR tools. It never made sense to me why they would build a QR when the male threaded fitting was threaded and had flats for a wrench removal.

I tried searching the terms listed. What has been seen cannot be unseen.

So now I am trying to find out exactly what it was and how it works. That is why I am asking about the fitting I colored purple. I really would like to know if that is (2) two pieces or just one? I colored it two shades of purple slightly different to show where i think it might break apart. Or it could be one wrench flat is for the nut and one is for the body. Really hard to tell in pictures.
As far as making the switch from one to the other, there is no real good solution without cutting the tube. You could probably find an adpater to change the metric hole to a flare. but there is nothing out there that going to change the flare to a much bigger metric.

2003 C5 required new fittings for new radiator
I had to cut off the factory fittings and then use AN fittings to make a proper connection to the new radiator. For the AN fittings to work, I had to flare the pipe. End result? Secure trans lines with NO leakage.
The blue nut pulls the flared pipe up against the red fitting.
