Fairly sure the Corvette can stop it, most truck brakes aren't that much better. It's the frame damage, suspension damage, and lack of control at highway speeds that I would be concerned about.

Could just be perspective of the camera. But the Corvette looks way too level to be towing a load that heavy, unless there is almost no tongue weight. In which case there would be a severe lack of control when at speed.

Edit: I wonder if they were just using it to move a trailer around and someone photoshopped a boat onto the trailer.

I think it's a 'shop. Brake lights on the trailer are not on, and it just doesn't look right.

Tongue weight on that trailer would have to be 100-200 lbs and would pull down the rear of the Vette. Can you even put a class C hitch on a Vette?

Probably a cropped hoax. The tongue weight of that rig would squat the rear of the vette severely, and it's not down at all.

Now that I am 70 I can say if you were in your 20's like I was ---owned these ---liked the racing on land and the river --bought things to enjoy not to have garage queens (though many wrenches were turned in those days) if you broke it you just fixed it for next weekend. I did not mind the looks from people wishing they had a Vet towing a jet boat. Just because your C5 has super low mileage on and it is in pristine condition does not mean you really enjoy it like a Vet should be enjoyed. My current C5 has 63,000 on it had 28,000 on it 3 years ago and it still get it's "exercise weekly. When this one gets worn out hopefully some of you guys will have kept one safely in a heated garage just waiting for me to break it in again. 'Sorry the pics are old like me.

A good shop can fab up a class C hitch for literally any car. Apparently there's been one person that put a class C hitch onto a Lincoln Mark VIII to tow a 4500 lbs boat. Apparently he also did a lot of reinforcement to the chassis.

Looks real to me. Shadows all match up. Appears to be mid-day. The trailer has brakes so stopping would not be an issue. Trailer tail lights could very well be on but the camera angle is sharper on the trailer than the car because of where the pic was snapped. It's a racing boat so a windshield would not necessarily be required. Lastly, look closely at the cradle at the front of the trailer where the bow should rest. The boat has been slid rearward enough to reduce tongue weight thus the car appears level.
