When will the C5Z prices come back down?
It seems like the prices for the c5z have increased over the past 5 months. I understand that it's summer so that could be a factor. I'm in the market for a Z but some of these prices are outrageous. Also, apparently mods add 10k of value now? I guess I'm out of touch...anybody know when they might come down? If it keeps going at this rate, they will be the same price as the c6z.

Just gotta watch and wait. Lotta people overvalue their cars.

Mods don't now and have never added $10k value except in the mind of the seller, installer or person who sells parts. I see good deals and fair prices every day so be patient and keep looking.

I am not seeing values go up at all yet. $25K will still get you a low mile possibly well modded pristine Z06 if you are patient and look for the right deal.

How much cheaper are you wanting them to be?
Z06s are easily in the $15K-$20K range now. That's pretty cheap; like dirt cheap for what you get. It's still pretty difficult to get into a C6 Z06 sub $30K unless it's got a ton of miles on it and some issues, but considering how much of a leap the C6 Z06 was when new it's a given they should go for the prices they do.

Perhaps you would get more information if you spoke in specifics. What are your expectations as far as to mileage, condition., and asking price versus what you are finding. There have been a number of articles in the national press that have reached the conclusion pure stock relatively low mileage C5 Z06's are unlikely to ever come down in price.

Sorry guys, basically my complaint is that I sold my old z06 for $20k. Beautiful car, perfect mods, etc...
Everything I've seen lately with a similar build has been 25k+
Here is my old car for reference...

Well, you probably should have kept it. If you can find a low mile C6Z for under $40k that's nice; grab it. However, you will most likely need to fix the heads@ from $1000-4000, depending on how much of the work you can do yourself. As a owner of a 20k mile 634RW '02Z, I know I wouldn't take $25k for mine.

C6Z's are dropping big time. It seems they are trying to get into C7's or something else. I would think C5Z's would follow suit but maybe not. The low mile, well cared for C5Z may have bottomed out at the 20-25k range with the higher mileage examples getting less.

Nonsense. These are apples/oranges, comparing someone shopping C7-8 and those buying C5s. BTW, my '02 is spotless, and faster than any late model, not including ZR1s, which are still getting over $50k in C6 form.

x2 on most being overvalued, they are cheap these days.
People can ask anything they want doesnt mean it will sell or is worth it
If theirs hasnt sold in 30 days its overpriced. Some just need a reality check. Like any used car they will get cheaper over time.
Remember when the C4 crowd thought they were bottoming out around 8k for a clean 60k mi one..Now can be had for a few thou literally.

I've seen C5 Z06 creeping up near C6 Z06 prices around here. Nothing against the C5 Z (I want one!) but the pricing is laughable. They sit for months, and months, and months for sale. No buyers. I want to contact them and say "If you don't want to sell it, why advertise it?"
I think some owners don't realize that the Z06 is a niche car. Any potential buyer is specifically looking for a "C5 Z06". There are not many of those people around. At all. And the people who DO want one know what they are worth. That is a huge issue for some sellers. They are looking for a sucker.
And with C6 Z06 pricing on the decline, it makes it even more difficult to sell a C5.
As for the OP, "When will C5Z prices come back down"
In the fall, when they have sat for months on end with no buyers.
Or next year, when they try to sell them again after the winter.
I have seen a few Z06's listed again this year that were for sale last year with no buyers. Some owners just don't "get it". If it was a good deal, it would have sold quickly. Pretty simple. I sold my wife's Genesis last year for "what it was worth" not what I wanted to get for it, and I sold it to the first person who responded to me within an hour. Apple pie easy.
