Trying to see if taking on this project is worth it. Those of you who have gotten it fixed from a mechanic how much did it end up costing you? Anything under $300 and I don't think I'm going to end up doing it. Thanks.

It will be well north of $300
DIY is not that bad....I did mine start to finish in under 4 hrs working time taking breaks...
take your time its easy to break tabs on some stuff
its easier to get the dash pad out if you lower tilt the steering wheel down and take the targa top (if equipped)
after you install new actuators make sure they are functioning before you reinstall the dash pad...I know a shop that didn't check and the owner made the tech redo it on his own time

When I did mine on another GM car, the bolt that held the actuator was 8.5mm. I had to buy a 8.5mm socket. Not sure if that is the case with the vette.
They are all over the place at the junkyards or at rockauto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...actuator,10721

Seen them done countless times. Glad I wasn't working on it.
Dash looks like a grenade was placed inside. Literally the entire dash is gutted.
Project for sure. Pack a lunch.

I heard you can access the driver side actuator without removing the dash pad, is this true? If so, I shouldn't have to remove my dash pad as it's my driver's side that's bad.

If it's your first time, plan on a full day. 4 hours to take the dash apart and 3 hours to put it back together. Plus 30 seconds or so to actually change out the actuators. It is not rocket science but it is tedious. Small quantities of beer help. Small quantities.
If you only need to change the driver's side, yes you can do it from below without taking the dash apart. Sucker. The other one is ready to go.

I'm a decently large guy with long (but not especially meaty) hands. I was able to get the driver's side without removing the dash. It was difficult and a bit awkward, but possible once I moved a couple things. That being said, the passenger side needs done too, and I should have just pulled the dash and done both. haha
