Default How Strict are Front License Plate laws in Mass.

A question for any Massachusetts C5 Driver - how strict is the enforcement of the front license plate law in the state? Would like to know. Thank you.

Depends on where and what else is going on. I run mine mostly because I don't need a reason to be stopped. A friend has the twin of my C5 and he never runs his, and he's never had an issue.

If you're driving like a dink, they could certainly tack it on to a citation. I don't think *most* cops would stop you for just that.

I have received three tickets over the years. I decided several years ago to just leave the front plate on. It is not worth the cost or the aggravation of being stopped for me to do otherwise

WA also has a front plate law. Some people can go for years with no front plate and never get stopped. A few may get stopped every few months. Not worth the hassle and BS so I have front plates on all my vehicles.

The fine in WA for no front plate is $124 but some LEO's won't write a ticket unless there are other violations seen.

In Ohio I went about 8 years with a C43 AMG and a C55 AMG and was never pulled over once, even got some speeding tickets and nothing on the front plate missing...two weeks into owning the C5 got pulled over, luckily I knew the cop and didn’t get a tciket

There are some in the Ohio government trying to get it changed to a secondary offense but not done yet....

Default Front plate

In mass you won't get an inspection sticker if you don't have a front plate. That is not true if you still have the green plates ( which must be readable). The front plate doesn't look all that bad on a C5 but, on a C6 .lol

well I guess the question is do you want to draw the attention to your self to be pulled over. it costs time, probably a ticket, and hopefully you didn't have a brewski at dinner before hand.....

like clint eastwood says ...." do you feel lucky"

Never ran one in CT for the 5 years I was there and they are required. If the cop wants to be a pain and stop me then so be it, but not having that ugly plate on the front.

I have heard that in some states you can obtain a wavier for the front tag if it's for a so called show car that only gets driven slightly.
For a fee of course

I'm in OH as well. My kids have just thrown the front plate up on their dash and have never had an issue, even when being pulled over for speeding (don't ask).

I'm thinking of doing the same in the Z06 and see if I can get away with it.

Yeah, but you're on the communist side of the state. I haven't had a front plate since 2003. No inspections either.

I've been driving without one in NJ for a while - even went through inspection without it. I'm thinking its one of those deals where they'll add this infraction onto something else they've hauled you over for (like speeding!)

I'm far enough away from the liberal s***-hole that is Seattle and the big population centers that we don't need any inspections either. But if some LEO wants to pull a car over for not having a front plate, they will do so. At least WA has a Collector Car plate and a Horseless Carriage plate where you only get one plate and you don't have to renew it each year but then the vehicle can't be used as a DD.
