Thinking about the center console in my Z06 and wanting to see what you guys have done with yours, hydro dip.....paint....had them wrapped with vinyl or leather? Lets see some pics!!
I bought one of these for 29 bucks. Stays cool and doesn't look stupid.
Bought one for my 04 vert. Was great for the first year. Second year the black die faded (I guess it did no like the sun ). It looked terrible so I took it off. Someday I will try to redye it.
Leather half-wrap with 2008 GM hydro-dip pattern. I'm on my second DD head unit. Love the new Kenwood with Apple Car Play. I plug in my iPhone via the center console and Siri and I take care of everything else.

Third year on my vert. Still black and looks good. Cheap enough to get a new one if it fades. Nice not to have that fryin' pan arm rest.

I have the same unit and love it!!
Take it from a wrap-vinyl "hobbyist": hydrodip, paint or leather wrap the console. I did mine a total of 7 times. 3 made it to final iteration since I made mistakes on the other 4 resulting in do overs. Wrapping the detail area around the radio and HVAC is very difficult because when wrapping, you have to decide which areas are most important and address them in order. Invariably those little areas end up last, at least when I do the work, and by then the handling of the material and the lack of 'overlap space' is so small it offers little help. It looks good in the beginning, but then cabin heat in the summer wreaks havoc on it, and you're constantly fighting lifting and bubbles. When I got my latest bit of leather trim in other areas done, I stripped the current vinyl, and painted with mild texture paint.
I would like a simple black suede or alcantara console lid that doesn't have wrinkles and fits tightly. Anyone have one ?
88,. If you mean the console lid you can get one from Ridies, Redline and many others. It’s probably the easiest piece to cover and wrinkles are all a matter of meticulous installation. Take your time, use contact cement to hold it in place and it will look terrific. Make sure you remove the original foam cover.
