C5 Z06 Brake Upgrade Help
I think its finally time to upgrade the brakes on my 2003 Z06. (30k miles) After doing the flared quarter panels with new wheels and 345s, my brakes are in desperate need of a make over!!!
With my setup, what are my options, how big can I go? Am I limited to just the C6 Z06 brakes? I guess what I’m trying to do is fill as much of the wheel if possible. The car is more for street/show than the track so I’m looking more towards looks vs. high performance. (Big shiny rotors and calipers!) Brake dust has been a huge issue for me (as you can see in the picture caking onto my new wheels, but would guess its from the oem rotors being so old) so I would want the best ceramic pads for minimal dust. I would imagine new brake lines are needed as well, so I would be looking for a whole package deal. As always the help is much appreciated.
Also, I was looking at getting a set of Weld Racing skinny’s, and I just wanted to see if I would be running into clearance issues with whatever setup I go with. Most likely a 18x5. Just looking to have some fun with some different looking setups when the car is posted up.
Below are the specs of my current setup to see how big I can go, and for anyone interested in the combo I am running. It turned out outstanding, pictures don’t do justice, the car sits perfect!
Fronts: 18x9.5 ET50
Rears: 19x12 ET24
Forgestar F14 Superdeep Concave
Thanks for any input, as always

weld skinny's will most likely stick out of the fender in order for them to clear c6z brakes and probably any other bbk for that matter... weld makes some nice wheels but in my experience they are difficult to work with if you need something custom that isn't an off the shelf part #

1.5 years ago I scored these 1B2.8006A1 off tire rack for $2,600 with drilled rotors instead of slotted. I moved my fronts to the rear . Added full custom cooling kit for less than 100 bucks for the fronts. You have to run 18's up front with maybe a spacer to clear brakes . I run a 1/8th spacer with c5 Z06 18'S Square. I know drilled is not ideal for track use but they run so cool I don't think I'll ever see them crack. Pedal is longer with the added piston area (12 of instead of 6 ) but it stops like a dream with no pedal fade ! Thought of upgrading master to 1.25" , maybe end of season.. That deal is no longer on there site.

Wanting to to upgrade to BB, you needed to have ordered your wheels custom built with that in mind for the clearance.
Running spacers, will make your wheels stick out from your great look.
Your car looks nice, like the wheels, ... except the Caliper Covers.

The C6 z06 calipers look great with Speedlines!
Though i may get new rims to support an all terrain tire. I love the style of the rims you have but at the end of the day my desire for an all terrain tire will probably limit my options.

Wilwood Aero6 14" front, Superlite4R 13" rear. F14 wheels have the standard "concave" profile in front, and the "deep concave" profile in the rear. Clearance is close, but better than with the taller C6Z calipers.

Dood if you’re taking bout the OP, they are NOT C6 Calipers... just ‘lovely’ Caliper Covers...

All terrain tires? Or all season tires? Don't think I've ever seen a Vette with all terrain tires - you may be the first!

Clearly he's not. Look at the picture he attached: An FRC with C6 calipers and Speedlines. Anyway, to the OP, any of the 14" front brake kits on the market should work. I will say this loosely because as you've alluded to, your wheel choice will be the final factor. I'd lean towards the Wilwood 4 piston SL in the rear. Should look good when you're done! Excellent wheel choice by the way.

There is a company I cannot recall the name @ the moment but the specialize in corvette calipers, I think were bigger in the 90's early 00's racing scene but still produce parts, someone on here may know what I'm talking about but they made billet AL 4 and 6 piston brake calipers/brake kits for vettes & were more reasonably priced than willwood/brembo yet appeared to be just as good quality. American made also.
Kinda like that "other" company that makes nice radiators for normal pricing just because they're not polished from the factory like Dewitts............

Are you thinking of Stainless Steel Brake Corporation (SSBC)? I've had their brakes on a couple of cars and think they were the first for some of the disc brake conversions for C2 and C3 (probably C1, also).

Bump. I have been hearing nothing but great things about PowerStops zinc plated rotors and their Z26 pads, producing extremely low amounts of brake dust. Can anyone chime in who has experience with these? I am looking for a place who sells the C6 Z06 brake calipers, hardware and steel lines.
