Trying to remove the rear view mirror and not having any luck. I did a search and it says rock it side to side while pulling up and should hear a click as it releases. I also saw a couple of posts about releasing a catch and it would slide off. If you look through the windshield there are 2 metal tabs that i assume is the catch. Looking at it i used a trim prybar. (small) and pryed that away from the windshield while the wife wiggled it side to side and we still could not get it off. Anybody have any luck getting the mirror off?
I am interested in seeing 8VETTE7 instructions. You can never learn too much about these cars. Having said that, I have taken mine off numerous times for tweeter installs and each time I used a real small vice grip set to clamp the tabs just enough to clear the base. Done correctly, the mirror will slide off and on as easy as can be.
No, downward until they clear the bump on the base. It will make sense once you start playing with it. Actually, it might be the bump on the spring catch. Been so long, I can't remember for sure. But it is downwards.
You know, if you have a lot of time on your hands, it might be a good time to take a couple of closeups of the spring clip and base and post the procedure. Maybe CF will make a sticky out of it. I should have done that years ago, but was not smart enough back then.
The one in my '00 FRC came right out after removing the torx screw. I replaced it with another (purchased here from a forum member) and now it no longer "droops down" when I hit a pothole...
