My initial thoughts on LS6 manifold install on a pretty much stock LS1 99 coupe

Hmm, this thread is rather illuminating. I bought my FRC in May with an LS6 intake, Hallitech CIA, long tubes, HF cats, Borla stingers and a Kurt Urban steam kit.
He did tell me he’s never had the car tuned or Dynod when we were initially discussing the existing mods.
seems like a tune may be over due. Kind of worrying about that.. what is the average price to get a car tuned by a reputable shop? (I have one called Virginia speed near me I’ve heard good things about)

I stand corrected, no egr, I was looking ls1 intakes off camaros or whatever. I just looked at my intake and I dont have anything on top near the throttle body.
This is great news because I wouldnt do the intake if it meant altering the air pump or anything else.
Thanks Smoken1

No, not really, Im here in NY but just wanted to keep the car as stock as possible. By eliminating the air system.... there will be no advantage, correct? I will also have a SEC on if I did without tuning it out.

Anyway, the point is the computer has flexibility (within limits) built into its programming. However, it tends to err on the side of caution. The next mod you should look at is a flow matched set of injectors. If you plan on keeping the cam and heads stock for a while then just get a set of stock sized flow matched injectors. This way you won't have to get a tune and the engine will both make more horsepower AND get slightly better mileage by not having to over-richen some cylinders to compensate for a lean injector.

Yes you will have to tune the codes out. Have you ever had to change the spark plugs in your car yet? It is alot easier W/O all that stuff in the way
