As others mentioned, $12k is a pretty phenomenal price for a C5 in that condition. Especially if it's a manual. Most C5 owners keep their miles pretty low (sadly) but these cars, especially the motors, can last forever, so don't let 75k miles scare you. There's a thread here somewhere of all the high mileage C5s. Also there was a C5 recently donated to the Corvette Museum with 737,000 miles on the original motor. The reliability of these cars is a huge reason why I chose a C5 over a Porsche 911 (which are fairly reliable too, but the 996 era had serious and costly IMS bearing issues, and parts prices are higher for every era).
For brakes, search the threads here for "Brakemotive"...they make a really affordable yet high performing rotor and pad set. 4 cross-drilled/slotted rotors and pads for around $160 shipped on ebay.

I've been looking around for a similar car but am probably putting off the purchase for a couple of months. That price seems about right for what I've been seeing. You have good mileage and year for that money, you should feel good about it.

Vettes here are a dime a dozen, the only guys thinking they are sitting on gold are the ones selling their C6's. Stock C6's the owners are trying to sell them for 10K over what the book says they are worth. If you are not in a rush and can ship or travel, you can always buy whatever you are looking for cheaper then what you see in your area. I bought my 01 for 6500 with 130K on it, all it needed was the F45 shocks replaced. Plus I drove 2 hours to get it.

Currently in Fort Myers there is a 2004 Z06 for sale with 75K miles, owner passed away and estate sale all records and garage kept........13K. Sorry, I just checked and it is gone. Also here in Fort Myers/Naples Florida area the prices of C5 vettes with low miles are under 15K a 45000 mile 01 just got sold for 12K. AND it was a convertible in great shape.

I agree with many of the others, too. If the car is in decent condition, $12K seems like a good price.
Also as a few others have said, nothing is gained by going to C5 Z06 brakes; the only difference is the red powder coating. Now - if you are meaning C6 Z06 brakes then you would be getting an enhanced brake package, but you would need 18/19" wheels.
Hope everything checks out for you tomorrow and you can post some pics!
