Cheap ($2 shipped) and effective solution to adding an unobtrusive cup holder
Thought I'd share a good solution to adding a (proper-sized) cup holder. It's foldable and very easy to attach- I used the vent that's on the left side of the passenger carpeting and ran a zip-tie through the vent, which holds the cup holder in place. The cup holder does shift around some, but would only be a problem for containers without a lid.
I bought the cup holder from ebay for $2 shipped, see ebay search here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...older&LH_BIN=1
I had previously tried another foldable cup holder from ebay but the diameter of the holder portion was too small to be useful. So this time I went with the style that has the cheesy propeller on it and removed the propeller. Here's what it looks like both folded and open in my C5Z (please excuse the dog hair!).

Spend a couple of extra dollars and buy a piece of 1/8" thick plexiglass. Mount the cup holder to the plexiglass and position it so the top of the plexiglass is under the center console and the bottom is next to the seat bracket cover. I tested my set up with a 32 oz cup from McD's that was filled full of pea stone. Is is stable and never spilled. The vent you connected to can pull off. The nice part of this set up is you can install or remove from the car in seconds.

I wrapped the plexiglass with carpet (black in my case), attached the cupholders with small screws, then slid plexiglass under the console like 3sacrowd did. Work slick as can be.
https://airboatdepot.com/adjustable-...der-black.html. (They come in grey and white too) Total cost about 12.00

Actually
That's what I chose from the Clear Option cupholder guy. The photo above doesn't look good because it's reflecting light. You cannot see my Plexiglas because the carpet shows through it. Very happy with mine. In fact I have one on my driver side too.

not sure if that vent is enough to hold a drink, just snaps in ??????????

I understand where the OP is coming from. I personally don't want to chance a spill on the floor board considering the BCM is in the toe kick on that side.

Personally, I find every solution shown above to look out-of-place and very "tacked on". I have always simply used bottled beverages when in the car.
However, for those times I want to bring my coffee mug or drive-thru beverage with me, I spent $20 on the most simple and brilliant solution ever: The OEM cup holder extension. It stays in the console until I need it. When I do need it, it slips over the OEM cup holder door in seconds. This allows even 32oz drinks to stay in place during spirited driving. And, since it removes in seconds, your Vette stays "tacked-on-Auto-Zone-cup-holder"-free.

Keep an eye on his Facebook page. He sometimes runs discounts and free shipping. I got mine without the logo for $20 shipped.
