Default New wheels and tires

I would like to share my new wheel and tire setup for my Z06. I labored over finding wheels and tires for a long time and I'm happy with the results. I was trying to find a wheel to fit my autocross needs, look good, not break the bank. After scouring the internet for weeks I was building my own custom wheels on different sits and was up over $3000. In the aftermarket wheel world that's not crazy money but for me it wasn't going to work. I really fell in love with the price and style of the Cray Spiders but I wasn't in love with the rear offsets and I seem to remember reading they are heavy. I was about to pull the trigger on Forgestars, I had a set on my last car and got lots of compliments, but then I saw Flowform F4 wheels from TireRack. They look similar to Cray Spiders, have the wheel offset I like, come in 18"/19" and are under $300 per wheel. I wasn't excited about the color, gunmetal. Same as my last car and I really wanted a silver or brushed finish. Can't have everything, especially at this price point. At my last autoX There was a C5 running a black set with the same tires and it looked really good. After mulling it over I filled up my cart and gave a call to TireRack to confirm everything I in my cart was correct. 5 days later, including a weekend, my tires arrived I was installing new wheels and tires.

Of course I took a little time to clean the wheels and apply a layer of CQuartz Ceramic Coating.
I weighed a front and rear wheel to see how much of a difference I had. I went up 1" in diameter and kept the same width, per SCCA Solo rules, and I added wider tires front and rear.

According to my bathroom scale I gained exactly 3 pounds on each front wheel/tire and just a little over 4 pounds on each rear wheel/tire. Not too bad considering I went up in wheel size and wider in tire although I did come down a little on the sidewalls.

Overall I am very happy with the results.

Pros- Inexpensive, properly sized widths and offsets for my needs, not too heavy, look good in my opinion.

Cons- I did add weight even though a little, not the exact color I wanted.

FlowOne F4 wheels
Fronts - 18x9.5 et50
Rears are - 19x10.5 et54

Bridgestone RE-71R
Front - 275/35/18
Rear - 305/30/19

I also lowered the Z while it was in the air. Still need to lower the front some more and get an alignment.

I saw these on Tirerack, found very little comments about them. Seem to be a new company. Damn they do look good though!

Nice setup. I like the grey. It looks great with the blue.

I thought the same thing but noticed a few of this brand on other cars like Miatas and BRZs. When a set showed up on another C5 and I got to see them in person it sealed the deal for me. Time will tell if they hold up to track abuse.

Very nice look. They work well with your color, but agree that silver might have popped even better against the blue.
Appreciate the weight comparison, too!

Those look pretty slick!

i got a chuckle that the old Z06 OEM wheeland tire weighs 50.6lbs. It looks like the scale is saying Z06... because obviously.

Very nice. I think the 18/19 combo on a C5 is perfect size. I'm a fan of Cray Spiders as well. Polished TSW Interlagos are my favorite (some day). These are definitely in the same style family. How much did you lower front/rear?

i went as far down as possible on the rear bolts. I left about 2 threads on the bolt. I may look into aftermarket bolts to go lower. For the front I turned the bolt till there was about 1.25" above the spring. im going to go back in and take em down as far as I can.

Your setup looks nice. I got these from a vendor in florida. My lug nut covers wont fit because of the flange or lip on them.
I have the crossed flag decals for the center caps.
Im undecided on whether to go with bright chrome or gunmetal gray caps?

I've thought about doing this. Is the ride quality sacrificed? You're basically just compressing the spring? Michigan roads are terrible...
