Default Newest installment of "What's this part?"

I was puttering with my shifting issues and when I looked below the master clutch cylinder, I saw the attached part, only it wasn't attached. It was sitting in the belly pan below the housing. I had the yaw sensor replaced last year, and it looks like it could be part of a steering shaft seal. Apparently it's not critical, or something would have happened by now. So esteemed corvetters, "WTF is this?"

Thanks -- Leroy

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t that part of the shifter assembly?

Looks like a grommet between where the shaft exits the engine bay and into the cabin. On the firewall.

We have a winner!!! Thanks a bunch. I guess I'll have the mechanic put it back on seeing's how he forgot the first time...sheesh. Your win entitles you to a cold one, if you ever get into this country. Leroy
