I'm 66 and have owned my 98' (92k mi.) for six years. I'm making up for the time (late 60's) when all my friends had Z28's, Boss Mustang's, Roadrunners and I had my family sedan. I absolutely love driving this car and take every opportunity to do so. Yesterday went down to the Woodward Dream Cruise. I get depressed when winter comes and I put the car in storage. At least I have my vette mags to read and plan my next mod.

Well said Route99.

While what I said was meant somewhat jokingly, I do in fact need to not be so serious about it. You are absolutely correct. My wife and I have probably owned 25 different cars over the years and I generally have never cared about miles.

Back when I got into the Late Model GTO scene 12 years ago or so there were tons of folks that were buying those cars and sealing them up in a garage owning them for 5 plus years and put 5k miles on them. What a waste of a car that will likely never really be collectible in any way.

Now's the time I should be taking advantage of someone else who only drove their car 2500 miles per year. Cars are meant to be driven! That is awesome you guys had one driven for 200k miles.

61 years young here, but still going on 19 though. Not a mileage hoarder. Bought it five years ago with 35k on it, now approaching 50K. Only 3rd owner. And yes, I drive it like I stole it, most of the time! Do I still feel like a kid when I drive? I'm still a kid, period, I act like a grown-up at work, all the time. they have no idea!!!!!! Only a few know I have a vette.

I'm almost 70.
I feel and look like I'm 70. When my wife and I get in our 03 vert I still look and feel every bit of 70.
However, I sure do love driving my Corvette.
If only my knees and back wouldn't pop so loud when I get out.
If only.

I'm 74 and remember driving my 2003 Z06 full blast on the German autobahn (15 years ago) and now have upgrade to a 2004 Z06 and still enjoy the thrill of driving the car.

That was back when Alpine actually made GOOD products! Back in like 1991 or so, my best friend had a new Mustang GT that was alllllll Alpined out. Head unit, EQ, crossover, even a hard-mounted cellular phone. His whole interior glowed green. Hahaha!

I'm 68, have been in performance cars since my teens, just love 'em. Got out today in my black '99 40K mile C5 vert. First time I had her out in about three weeks (you know, life gets in the way sometimes). Gave her a wash and took a 65 mile round trip for pizza, just for the hell of it, on a beautiful sunny late afternoon, listening to the BB's going through the gears. I haven't owned many cars that repeatedly make me want to just get out and drive. The C5 does that for me! .

Had Vettes since I was 20, C2's were cool then. They have been cool ever since too.Went a couple of years without one and it will never happen again. So even with 50 years of driving them I still move one or two cars before I back the C5 out of the garage just to hoard some mileage on her, she likes collecting them not saving them. Besides nobody can see you smile if you just look at her in the garage.

I can totally relate! At age 54, I love driving my supercharged 2000 C5 coupe and my 1998 iron block 408 stroker with thumping Comp cam. The first is surprisingly civilized in traffic around town; the second, unsurprisingly, is loud and aggressive even at idle. It's like having two mistresses with very different personalities!

Not to get off the subject. But it is nice to see reading all the different ages that a lot of us are still driving the C5 and not jumping up to the C7. I think it means something that a lot of us really still enjoy our C5’s!!

FWIW, I've had that "young feeling" driving my Vettes since 1969.

I'm way older than that, and feel a lot older too - I feel like I'm 10.

Right there with ya, 48, and can稚 get enough wheel time, and I drive it almost every day. Had too many garage queens, wanted to drive something cool daily in the summer. Had it almost a year, and have put 4K miles on it, and that was with 5 months of garage time due to winter.
