Lingenfelter, thanks for posting that picture.
I am kind of in the same boat as the OP. Would like to refinish (powder coat) our C5 Z06 wheels as they have some minor curb rash from previous owner. I kinda like the stock gunmetal style and the wife is full boat satin or semi gloss black on a black C5. She will be happy to see this picture of yours.
OP I say for your car Gunmetal, graphite, or anthracite. Whatever the word of the day is for a dark gray.
I'm not a huge fan of bright silver or polished/chrome, maybe because we've owned too many cars in the last 25 years that were black with chrome wheels.

Silver, unless you are going to black out EVERYTHING. that said, if it were mine, I would keep the silver and maybe a single silver pinstripe to accent it

Silver looks so good. It modernizes the C5 FRC lines without being gaudy. Black wheels say "look at how tough I am", Gray/graphite just look dirty and covered in brake dust to me.

i like the thought process! I don't want it to look like I got bored and painted my wheels, or need to look tough.

I would paint the calipers and the centers of the rotors with a clean silver and let everything else on the wheels alone.
