Chrome Lug Nuts

Chrome Lug Nuts
Are there any mechanical reasons we shouldn’t use aftermarket (from AutoZone) chrome lugs nuts on our ‘01 with stock rims?
Checked the thread, checked the length and AutoZone computer says they fit. But NAPA told me their lugs nuts would not fit even though their computer says they would.
Thanks,

Either the MCGard lugnuts in the pic or the Gorilla brand lugnuts will work. I have used both brands on my C5 with the Z06 wheels. Just make sure that the thread pitch is the same and that they have the correct 60 degree taper. Make sure you torque them to spec.

Just stay away from off brand/imported, a friend of mine bought a tire & wheel package for his Camaro that came with lug nuts & recently had an incident where the front nuts loosened & actually snapped off 2 of the studs, luckily the wheel stayed on but once he examined the lug nuts the cone seat was wrong & the threads had more play in them than you would want with a lug nut.

Either of those brands will work well with your wheels.

As long as they have the same conical seat for the wheel and can grip enough threads on the lug it will fit fine. I believe for the thin spoke wheels (you said 2001 but didn't specify which model) I believe the conical seat is 60 degrees (which is what those are that you posted an image of) but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
I would echo this in be very careful with what aftermarket lugs you buy. A good of them are produced with a mixture of metals that do not provide the same strength as typical lugs. If one or two lose their torque to the stud or compromise the stud they can rip studs right off the wheels. Impure lugs also have a higher chance of rounding out or stripping.
It can be tempting to go with the various off brand and imported lugs because they typically come in appealing finishes and designs.

I've been a McGard user for about 40 years...…..
