Seat belt removal?
i am trying to gain as much room as possible to widen the selection of aftermarket race seats I’m wondering if anyone has experience removing the stock seat belts-leaving the carpet -thanks.

I'm doing the same thing, I actually just removed my seat belts on my C5. I'll try to explain as best as possible.
Pop up door sill plastic that sits along the bottom door of the car.
Gently pry off with plastic tools or screwdriver the next plastic piece upwards of the door sill where part of the belt comes out from (its held in by 2 push clips.).
Remove the belt through the trim cut out to completely get the plastic out.
You should by now have both the lower and upper seat belt re-tractors exposed. There's one bolt per each re-tractor, use a T47 torx socket to remove them. Pull off the seat belt retractors to remove them (mine had some tape residue).
Last thing to do is unclip the plastic piece surrounding the last part the seat belt is attached to .This will expose another T47 bolt you must remove. After you get that out you've successfully removed one side.
Repeat on the other.
