Default Accident

Sorry for the loss of your vette. Tough break after waiting so long to get one. Good luck looking for the replacement.

I mean based on the first corvette picture you could probably sell it to one of the stance boys.

Kidding, I hope whatever comes of it you’re able to get back into another corvette sooner than later.

Hit a telephone pole size log going down a hill two weeks ago doing 40 miles an hour . Car bounced three foot off ground and destroyed rim. I am still waiting for rim and suspension problems after rim is installed. The only item i did not have was stated value insurance which i hope you had! Your car might be perfect but book value is all you get. Read those policys people and ask questions the least expensive insurance might not be the best!

Boy, that doesn't look good, but you are safe, is really all that matters, cars can repaired, you can't.

This is exactly why people should insure their C5s for an agreed upon value, otherwise, if the car is totaled, the insurance co ins't going to pay diddly...

I will probably do stated value for the next one as I expect it to be nicer. The current car is far from perfect. It is a 176,000 mile daily driver, and while it is nicer than most non Vettes of that age and mileage the value probably is somewhere close to book value if they go by sale value and not trade in value.

Glad you are ok, but it is a big bummer about your car!
I'm like some of the others - the tie down strap didn't look that large initially, but it is apparently one of the large ones off a semi flatbed.
Hopefully insurance will be fair and you'll be in another Corvette very soon if this one cannot be fixed.

A testament to the safety and strength of the C5 platform. Most other "point A to point B" uni-body cars and SUV's wouldn't have maintained control with that type of impact. If the C5 wasn't so low it might not have sustained as much damage. Was your car at stock height or lowered?
Will you stay with a C5 or go with a different generation Corvette for your next one?

I'm staying with a C5. (I'm not really a fan of the C6 and can't afford a C7 at the moment)

Man that looks like the one that came off the flatbed trailer they used for the oilfield pipe transport. Around the Seabrook Texas city. I bet you that is what it is. But never the less the damage is done and you are O.K.

Could be worst like the trailer hatch came off and destroy this one car I saw on the news. Lucky when the hitch hit the Windshield of the car smashed and dent the roof of the car but the driver was O.K. After a change of pants.

GL on your new finding a C5. Life is short enjoy it while you can.

Strap ratchet from a big 18 wheeler flatbed. Those things are big and heavy for a reason, and it looks like that one broke off - too many years of stress on it. The driver probably didn't even know it. Sucks about your car, but now you get to enjoy the hunt again!

That sucks, I got a raccoon and a rock within a couple weeks of each other. Some paint off the bumper and a few cracks in it. No big deal, the rock busted up the floor pan pretty good. I feel your pain.

That looks like part of a tie down found on flatbed trucks wore and broke off. Sorry, hope your back on road soon. Oh, get insurance involved, good luck.

You survived undamaged. Only a car, a good one, but only a car
