Did anybody buy a C5 over 6 or 7 just based on looks ?

just got a new C5z06 big cam build. Its putting down c6z06 power. my budget was c6 base or c5z and the interior mainly did it for me, i think the c5 interior is much more timeless. The c6 interior looks dated as heck!

I really enjoy them both...but the C6 Z..hitting that gas pedal is just unreal. If you have never driven one do yourself a favor and do it! The one thing I would say about the C6 Z , just my opinion, it would not be a good daily driver. Suspension is very stiff. The C5 Z would be a great daily driver. Mine are both garage queens..lol. By the way, the holes in the side for the rear brake vent is in the C5 Z06 not the C5 FRC.

2016 C5 of the Year Finalist
In 2010 I definitely bought my C5 over a C6 based on looks (interior and exterior).
Interestingly I owned several C3s before that, but didn't like the looks of the C4 at all... so never considered one of those.
I do like the looks of the C7... but just when I think I'm a "odd series" guy, I find that I really like how the ME C8 seems to be shaping up.

I bought the C6 Z06 in June. Dealer called me a couple months back saying they wanted to buy it back. Offered to put me in a 2016 Z06 (auto) with 3k on it. I went and drove the C7 Z but I decided I liked the C6 Z with the 427 better. C7 Z was very tight inside. Looking out through the windshield it reminded me of my C3 with high fenders. Here is both side by side..

I want a C5 based on three reasons 1) I think it's the best looking of the three and 2) it's in my price range and 3) it was the generation that saved the Corvette program, so it has a bit of history to go with it...

I can't speak for a C5, but I definitely did choose my C6 over a C7 because of looks

Yes.
Granted, price was a factor. I could buy a nice convertible C5 for the price of a base c6 coupe...but for me, I went with the C5 because it looked the most like the C3, which is the Corvette that used to get my attention as a kid.
And pop up headlights FTW!

I cross shopped C5s and C6s. I like the smooth flowy lines and monochromatic scheme of the C5 better. I spent less on the car and put some $s into it take add some power. I know the C7 is a better performer but I don't like the looks. I didn't really want to spend C7 money either.

I agree, I think a C6 would look great in FRC style....I like the coupe in a C6 Z06 or GS but in a C5 I like VERT or FRC.look...

I bought my 2004 C5 vert new and I’m the original owner. I chose the C5 over the C6 in late 2004 based on looks. The C6 just never did it for me. Fast forward to summer 2018, and I added a C7Z to the stable. The Z06 is a beast, but I still enjoy my C5 vert.

I love the looks of my C5 Z06, and would put the looks, ride, and power above and over any standard C6 or C6 Vert. The C6 looks like a Vette that went through a chop shop.
The C6 Z06 and the C6 Grand Sport with the wide body kit, cleans up the chop shop look nicely. They look good. I would love to own a C6 Z06, but I have to get a new practical car. Looking right now at the Cadillac CTS V-Sport.
I LOVE the C7's look. I believe that is the prettiest Vette to date. Plan to own one someday.

I just bought a 2010 CTS-V as my daily commuter about a month ago and couldn't be more pleased. The comfort and smooth ride make for a very pleasant drive and the on demand power is the icing on the cake. Prepare for lots of trips to the gas station if looking at a V2. I average 16/17mpg with a mix of city and hwy driving and that's being easy on the throttle. With that being said still totally worth it

When I was shopping, my choices were the C5 or C6. I liked the look of the C5 so much better inside and outside. After looking around for a good one, I knew there was no chance I wasn't getting a C5Z.
IMHO, the C6 interior looks disappointing. The exterior is okay, but not as distinctive as the C5. The C7 looks pretty good on the interior, but I can't get past the exterior looking like every other sports car out there. Looks to me like GM trying to copycat exotics more than innovate. Though I'm gonna get flamed for this, to me the C8 mules take this copycat scheme to a new higher level. I think that is quite unfortunate, but might be an unavoidable situation.
So all things considered, the C5Z would be top of my list if I was buying for aesthetics and price was no option. That being said, I'd still like to get my hands on a C7 ZR1.... Though it is more likely my next toy will be a chrome bumper C3 (and I don't even really like chrome). I'm apparently a walking paradox.

Oh my, I thought about this very question so much it made my brain hurt. I even put together a video to help focus and organize my thoughts.. As of 1/1/19, I like the C6, then C5 (very very close) then C7. Cant wait for C8!!
