Did anybody buy a C5 over 6 or 7 just based on looks ?

Just curious if price did not have anything to do with it and the style of the looks was the main sole factor in the purchase...

To me the C6 Z06 HT is the best looking modern era car stock in non vert, spending 35 grand for one would not be so bad if it were not for the known motor issues they really would be the best buy in the used vette market IMO by far.
With the top down VERT I like a C5 with the right wheels and feel they are a real good buy. I do not care for the way a C6 looks as well or a 7 with the top down compared to a 5 and do not really care for a 7 as well at all and think future resale values will reflect this on the 7....

Yes.
And I'm not baller status enough to buy a C7 or a nice C6Z without another car payment and I don't need anymore of those.
That being said, while maybe a bit more dated now, the C5 body is my all time favorite timeless Corvette body style.

Seriously though, to each their own on this kind of thing, I think we can all generally agree that any well taken care of vette looks great!

Time will tell which style will have more staying power. In the future the gap in performance and technology will be much closer as all these cars age and the industry keeps making improvements in both areas. For now I think it’s impossible to separate those things and price out of the equation as the C5 price definitely makes it a more “attractive” deal. JMHO
FWIW I do think the FRC/Z06 C5 is a good reason to buy on looks as they are more rare and look so different from any C5, C6 or C7 hatchback.

How much better do you like to drive the C6 Z06 over the 5 Z06?

My wife and I had a C3, C5 and now a C7. Looks wise, my preference is in that order. (C3 the best) As far as performance, C7 is way faster, but I think the C5 would be very close if the tranny shifted better. When going 60 in our C5, if you floor it, it would down shift in each gear while the C7 skips right to the correct gear.

Had a c5z and c6z at the same time.
No way in hell would I spend money on a c7. I hate the entire rear of it, not just the tail lights.
Seeing the c8 mule pictures I know it won’t have the beauty of a ferrari458 but I’m hopeful.
I have a feeling though my next sports car purchase won’t be a corvette.

I just recently got a 2016 C7 and luckily was able to hold on to the old C5 for now - I've still been working on fixing up some projects with it. I'm glad I still have it and truthfully the C7 may be the first one to go out of the two.

I love the styling of the C5, and while that wasn't the only consideration, it's definitely what got me interested. Once I started doing some research, the reliability and affordability and drive-ability of the C5 sealed the deal and made it the best choice for me. Then I had to figure out what color I wanted ... that took me a few months and a few road trips to figure out, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I briefly considered a C6, but even the oldest ones were more than I wanted to spend, and of course the C7 was way over budget for me.

My favorite looking Corvette has been the C5 Z06/FRC.
I’ve owned 2 C5’s (a vert & a Z06) , 2 C6’s ( a Grand Sport & Z06) and a C7 (Grand Sport).
The most refined was the C7 (shocking revelation).
The most fun has been the C5Z06.. and the one I still own..

Safety Car
I bought mine before the c7 was out, but I much prefer the c5 to the c6. I actually paid as much for my z06 as several Ls2 powered cars were listed for, and not much less than many ls3 cars.
The c7 is actually my least favorite of the 3. I like the refinements and performance, but the looks are too busy for me. To be honest, I think I would opt for an LS swapped c4 over a c6/c7.

C5 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I love my C5 Z06 but if I had the funds, a Blue C6 Grand Sport roadster would be mine. Haven't warmed up to the C7's yet but am lusting after a C8. At my age, I'll probably never be able to afford one, though.

I actually went to a car lot because of an advertisement for a 2008 c6 coupe. After driving it, I was so disappointed I was on my way through the lot to my car when I spied a 2003 z06. It was so striking in appearance compared to the metallic red coupe I'd just left that I decided to test drive it. I was almost as totally unprepared for it as the saleswoman; her reaction was about the same as mine--"I thought you were looking for a 2008 Corvette??".
Obviously a z06 has features and options that might catapult it's capabilities over the next generation's coupes, but I was *really* surprised at its' handling, responsiveness, power, and overall driving feel. We both preferred the opportunity for pop-up lights, and with the availability of such a stellar example of driving prowess, we have been completely contented with the c5 over the c6. Five years later though, having clocked 100,000 and expired the warranty, we went back for a c7 z51. We kept the c5; it's a completely different (raw and more visceral) animal.

I was on the fence between a C6 and a C5Z. I test drove a C6 and honestly wasn't impressed. The C5Z IMO not only looked better, but performed better as well. Felt like raw power was just a slam of the pedal away like it was asking to be abused. My wife is about to get her Vette and she test drove a C6Z, we both looked at each other and were like that's it? It was a bit more refined I'll give it that, but it didn't have the same feeling as driving the C5Z. She has actually ended up opting for a C7 so we are currently are on the hunt for a laguna seca blue one. It will be a nice addition and for some reason she thinks she will have the faster Vette. Not happening.
