Default Wheels and Tires and Brakes; Oh My!

They arrived at my driveway yesterday; I gazed at the mute monolith of rubber and chrome that sat before me, as the Fed Ex man was trundling back to his semi with his empty pallet truck. It was beckoning to me to be unbound from its cocoon of plastic wrapping and millstone of pallet wood. These, the new tires and wheels that I have been impatiently waiting for since I created the order through SD Wheels for them last Saturday... last Saturday, has it been that long?
Now, to tear into the plastic windings--
look sharp, no cutting the new rubber!
Free now, they try to roll down the driveway! Eager are they to tread the pavement in search of adventure! Not yet, my friends, you must be properly acquainted with your new mate, Codelia, that sinewy sleek amalgamation of fiberglass and steel sporting the crossed flags; then shall you be as ready as you are willing to set forth on your journeys to car shows, date nights, and the unfettered undulations of that county road just to the south.
The road beckons, and we will heed its siren song....

Nothing says "fun!" like a delivery for my Corvette!

Similar, and yet, entirely different!

The 11 year old Michelin had a few words of wisdom to impart to the new upstart replacement Nittos..

It's a dirty job, and I'm going to do it! Time for a clean up!

Thanks to all the tips and instructions on this forum, I replaced the rotors and added color to the calipers! (The brake pads were less than 2 yrs old, they stayed to offer their experience in stopping)

Very sporty! And yes, I did use a jack stand!

Aahhh... that's what I was looking for!

That green-gold seems to be a nice combo of green...and, -gold. Anyway, not your average red for sure!

One down, three to go!

New rims and tires leading the way up front, rears getting ready for retirement

Well damn... Mr. Iverson, that car has been modernized and revitalized. You've done a great job and the car really is something to be proud to drive. I am willing to bet that the CORVETTE on the front calipers highlighted with black would stand out nicely and add to the appearance. Not that you asked, just a simple suggestion. Either way, the car looks amazing.

Very nicely done and a good read. Looks much better. I went with a somewhat similar body color for my calipers also, I selected candy pearl purple powder coating.

Where did the wheels come from? I really like those. they look like GS wheels from the next generations. Are they strait bolt ons or did you have to add spacers or anything?

I bought these at SD Wheels, they're the replica version of the Gran Sport wheels,17 and 18 inch staggered with original tire sizes. Just bolt on and go. I'm on a tight budget and so went with the oem sizes.
I am extremely pleased with the company and their service, findung them to be one of only a few places to get a complete wheel and tire package for c5 Vettes. Ordered Easter weekend, got them yesterday.

The GS style wheels look really good on the C5. Great choice.

Before I drive it, one more look at the all black rotor...

And after! I actually like the polished look much better (it's a good thing, right?)

It's a very overcast day, but I have to take some pictures!
The only trouble I had with this project was the driver side rear caliper bolts( that need 125ft/lbs of torque). I leaned on that torque wrench for all it was worth, but I never heard the clicks!! I'll check it in a day or two after I've recuperated from this job!

i wouldn’t worry too much about it if you put that much force into it. It’ll hold. Looks sharp!

I very much appreciate the votes of confidence and generous approval! This is the set up I was hoping to achieve, and am very grateful to have accomplished the brakes and tires in one shot! I'll get better pictures when the weather clears up
