Crotch rocket wanted to race

Acceleration, very likely the bike would be quicker. Top speed? Maybe, maybe not, depends on the bike. I know a guy with a supercharged Corvette C5 (he claims 517 WHP) who did a "40 roll" against a crotch rocket (he didn't know what brand or model of bike). Apparently, from 40 MPH to well over 100 MPH, the bike accelerated much more quickly. However, the bike topped out at 145 MPH, whereupon the Corvette passed the bike and hit 160 MPH before letting up. Keep in mind that a few guys claim to have reached 182 MPH in a stock C5 coupe with the 2.73 factory gearing (C5 ZO6 tops out at 176 due to inferior fixed roof aerodynamics versus the coupe).

One other factor....you can get a 2005 to 2010 Litre Sport Bike for $5,000 or less and you would have to spend a ton more on a Sports Car to even come close. But then the bike isn't as comfortable in the rain or at the Drive-in movies....

The new top of the line Lightnings were making 320 HP with a motor weight of 42 pounds, put one of those on each wheel of a modern car and you have the ultimate. All gas burners seemed to be headed for the trash shortly or so it seems...
They are also keeping the raps on techs to make electricity real efficiently and do away with most of the batteries.
Don't ever send any of you ideas to the patent office.

Some of the liter-class sportbikes will run mid-9's @ 150mph, stock, in the 1/4 and top out around 200mph.
That Kaw H-2 in the video above, has around 270hp (factory supercharged) and weighs around 500lbs.

Can't say I've ever lifted my visor at those speeds but the tunnel vision is definitely a funky experience. I enjoyed blasting to 185 quickly but never felt the urge to linger there very long!

I know there are a lot of insanely fast Sports Cars out there. But I don't think you can get the feeling of ripping through the gears on a litre bike and hitting 150 plus. I always find a place I can go 125 to 150 every time I ride. The other cool thing is passing. Where you would squeak by passing a single car with a fast Sports Car you can pass 4 or 5 with the bike instantaneously. Just twist the throttle and you are there. It's sort of like warp drive in Star Wars..... Everybody should have that experience.
Where the good Sports Cars shine is in the corners. Four wheels are always better than two, and the contact patch of 4 big tires is a hundred times that of two sport bike tires. Haven't done any track days with my C5, just on a Sport Bike. Even track days are pretty pricey.

In a Cammed/Maggie’d 6-speed ‘99 I spanked a Katana 600 at any speed it tried. Each rip ended with it behind the car.
In a bolt-on C5z from a 2nd gear roll I was behind a 929rr by about 2 cars at the worst point but gaining after shifting into 4th. If the race kept on he’d have been behind in 5th the way it was going.

929rr is easily down about 60-80hp to a modern liter bike! That's crazy.

Had a bunch over the last 20 years... all 3 sizes of GSXRs, a KTM 990 R, 2 ZX10s, Honda rc51 and 1000rr, etc. I sold my last one 3 years ago, got bored of riding. My wife still has her 1000rr in the garage but that's gonna be sold soon too.

Most Rs or RRs are very fast, hard to keep up with. Even the 600s do tens.
The issue is, like cars, most street riders don't know what they are doing. If you ride a performance bike you NEED to take a high performance school. like the California Superbike School or the YAMAHA CHAMPIONS RIDING SCHOOL (preferably both).

Had a little conversation with the MotoAmerica Superbike champ a few weeks ago. My son and Cameron's bike, after a small issue at turn 5 at VIR during the Superpole qualifying.
