'Vettes on Blue Ridge Parkway!!
To all you 'vette folk cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway milestone 352, 11.20 am Wednesday 08 May, thanks for waving! We (wife and I) heading south on the Parkway a day or so from Atlanta, after 8384 mile road trip. 2001 C5 performed flawlessly - GA, FL, AL, TN, OK, TX, NM, AR, UT, CO, NE, IA, IN, IL, MI, OH, PA, NJ, WV, NC. Motels and some camping. Managed to fit basic tent, stove etc for overnight in state parks in trunk, still allowing for the top down. Best economy 31.08 mpg on Interstates 70mph, but mostly average 28+. A dream car for a USA road trip. Another one planned for Sept/Oct, I mean why not. Wife called it an 'armchair ride across America'.

That's great that you're driving the car like that. Bet it's really fun.

Quite an adventure for an Aussie! A lot of driving on the "wrong side" of the road for you... Happy to hear that you had a great time visiting many of our great states. I spent time in Albury driving and had a tough time driving on the left...

I've had the privilege of riding the Parkway on my motorcycle quite a few times and words still cannot describe it's beauty.
469 miles
not a single stop sign
groomed shoulders
Azalea's
Rhododendron's
Overlook's
I hope to take my Vette on it this fall, top down!

Forgot the Blue Ridge Parkway...
There we go, from North to South. The top came off shortly after.
My Aussie friends think Robyn is driving.
Robyn calls it 'an armchair ride across America'.
Camped near Buchanan. Robyn a bit anxious about bears. The guy told us he hadn't seen any this season - hardly reassuring.
See why they called it a 'Parkway'? Hardly any traffic apart from motorbikes. Everybody waves, especially if one pulls off and lets them pass.
Finally, not Parkway but I like this shot. From any angle, the C5 has class. Can't wait to get 'stateside' again, Sept/Oct this year.

Some more photos
Yes it all fits in trunk. Two duffel bags, food, cooler box. Airbed, stove and tent already in trunk.
No CD stacker means more space. Still room for roof to fold down.
'Vette country ... aren't you tempted?
More 'Vette country, in fact anywhere is 'Vette country ... or
perhaps not anywhere. Spun out on ice I70 Utah, 'Vette knew this guy has no idea of driving in snow so took over and had it sorted.
Camped near Canyon De Chelly, AZ. Loved the State Parks, although this one wasn't.

.....and here I thought my 53 days travel of just under 6,000 miles to 7 States was "worthy."
Congrats!!
Maybe I need a tent!! Sure beats the high cost of hotels. Hahaha
Any photos?

How come you are awake 1.05 am! Any trip in a C5 is 'worthy'. We didn't pay above $100 anywhere. Used coupons from hotel books available at info centers, all were honored and mostly around $50. Some four star places included, so we were delighted to be below budget on accommodation.
