Help w/ purchase of '03 50th anniversary
Found an 03 50th anniversary edition corvette with 69,000 miles for 12 grand...needs thermostat replacing...VIN checks out with no accidents and no salvage title...Issue is owner has a bank lien on title and owes the 12k...guess my question is should the price being low scare me away, all info I've received on vehicle checks out and has no major issues at all...any help or input greatly appreciated

Wouldn't scare me one bit. Go try to steal it.
If it needs any maintenance at all it will need a lot. That's to tell you that somebody doesn't fix stuff. Just be prepared for that up front and you're fine. Just don't think you're getting a cream puff that your next maintenance is 3 years and twenty thousand miles away.

It does have alot of modifications, which is why i am somewhat hesitive especially with some of the mods that are done. Custom paint job, eibach lowering springs, borla exhaust a bunch of other suspension mods. Some of the mods like the doors scare me

If you really like the car with the mods that have been done go for it. If you want it because it appears to be a good deal stay away from it. You will not be happy with it after a while and it will definitely be hard to sell.

Miami is a hot spot for cheapo mods. There are a ton of places down there that will do things for pennies on the dollar and what you get is pennies on the dollar work. Some things just from the pics... Hood doesn't fit right, and who knows where that hood came from... I have never seen a C5 with C7 extractor so it might be a custom build. The front bumper doesn't appear to be the same shade of orange. Car isn't all that shiny. Under hood has been spray painted all over the place, and it's peeling.
My father in law used to own a body shop in Miami. I wish I had pictures of my Wife's old car that had a clear title and car fax. He bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee at one point that had rolled, it literally was flat down to the doors. Clean as a could be on paper. I'd check that car out in person thoroughly. If it really is that nice it would have been scooped up locally IMO. It could be a great deal, but logic tells me it is likely going to be a nightmare.

I had the same thoughts about the weird paint...Another member has offered to take a look at the car for me since is local to help me avoid a trip down to see myself

....flashy.
I have a lot of trouble trusting a modded car. Unless there is a paper trail showing who modded it and how it was modded, I would stay away.
In any case, 12 grand is probably a little high for a modded automatic coupe.

I think the hood looks pretty good and IIRC, another member here on the forum did a similar modification to his stock C5 hood.
That car has had a lot of work done to it - I sure would want to know who did the work and see a paper trail for what has been done. I tend to stay away from highly modded cars - could be a nightmare waiting to happen.

Honestly it looks to be mechanically stock to me, so if you like the looks of it and the paint quality checks out it may be a good deal.
Of course, eibach doesn’t make lowering springs for these cars, considering they use leaf springs, so keep that in mind that the owner clearly doesn’t know too much about the mechanics of the car. He may mean lowering bolts, but still very different.
I dont hate the way it looks aside from the wing, the headlights, and the doors.
