1999 key fob
Hi guys,
Will a 2000 and newer fob work on my 1999? I understand it will not have the passive lock/unlock slide button but I dont care, it never works right anyway. Also if so, where should I buy one and about how much?
Thank you everyone.

Get the one for YOUR car or you'll be selling it on Ebay. There's the 97-00 and the 01-04. Don't mix and match. There are ones without the passive switch on Ebay (if I recall correctly). But don't buy the wrong one because you prefer the button layout.

You can use a 2000 MY fob but not 2001-2004 unless you update the receiver in your car to one of those years. I updated my 1998 receiver to a 2003, updated the TPMS, and bought two new fobs on Ebay for $10.00. Everything works perfectly. If you do update the receiver you must also update the 1999 TPMS as they won't work with the new receiver.

You would require a new receiver from a 2001-2004 C5, new tire sensors for same years, and a set of new key fobs for MY 2001-2004.
You could check www.contemporarycorvette.com for a used receiver, buy the fobs on Ebay, and order new sensors to match the receiver online from Tire Rack, Amazon, or wherever you can get a good deal. Total cost would be around $250.00... Receiver $80.00 - fobs $10.00 - sensors $160.00... (all approximations). GOOD LUCK!

Thanks!
While $250 sounds steep that is about the cost of 2 fobs and 1 tire sensor for 97-00.
