Best C5 Muffler
I recently bought a 2000 Chevy Corvette 6 speed that is completely stock. I am looking for a muffler to give it a throaty sound. I am planning on getting a muffler instead of a full exhaust because I am a college student and do not have the money for a full exhaust. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what they recommend. I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 S with a 60 series Flowmaster muffler and it is 2-3 times louder than my Corvette and that needs to change. Thanks.

As with most aftermarket parts selections, there is no such thing as a "best" muffler. It highly depends on what you're looking for. Loud? Deep growl? Do you want it to scream at high RPM? Do you care if it drones? What's your budget? Do you have neighbors and you start your car up at 5am?
Personally, when I was a college student, I couldn't afford a C5. But even if I could, I couldn't justify spending hundreds of dollars (sometimes over a thousand) just to make a car louder. So I imagine budget is an important consideration.
There are multiple forum vendors who make or resell a good product, start there.

Subjective of course, but with that said I say B&B bullets or corsa extreme. Quality construction, great looking tips, and sound that does a corvette justice. Also most likely the least restrictive, but it's not like you're going to see much gain from a catback anyways.

I used to want the SLP loudmouth, back in 2003-2005 when I was on the fence about buying it, I thought 500 bucks seemed high, now it's about 800 bucks.
Apparently leaving stock mufflers on and going with long tube headers and pipes before muffler will make exhaust louder, and you will gain some power.
I drove mine without mufflers(took off both mufflers was going to have a shop weld the broken piece) for a while after the weld broke at flange where it bolts to midpipe, it was loud, and obnoxious and fun for a while.
Bought a used set of C5 mufflers with factory chrome tips for 100 bucks off a 2000 Corvette, my factory mufflers had no chrome tips.
Man the stock mufflers sounded so good, and deep (great tone just not loud) unlike the open exhaust that was more of a loud treble.
Went through taco Bell 🌮 drive thru and thought it sounded great again, also great rowing through the gears, at this point not loud was fine by me.
Loud and coming home late or leaving early let's everyone know, quite is nice at times and stealthy.
So, how about electric exhaust cutouts, you can make it loud, then make it quite if needed.
That's what I would want when I was younger(wasn't available then) especially with headers, should be plenty loud!

Take a look at DNA axel backs. They are Chinese knock offs of Corsa’s or Borla but I have them and they work just fine. Under $400 with free shipping.
You can find them on flea bay or walmart. They look great and sound much better than stock.

Red, try going to some shows/gatherings and see what other people are running. I'm sure most owners would be more than willing to fire up their cars so you can hear the exhaust note.
