Default Steering Wheel / Airbag Removal

Can any one tell me if you need to remove the clock spring in order to place new steering wheel and adapter in place. Im not sure if I have to remove or not. Also If you leave in place ,do you get any dash lights from disconnecting the item ? I seen a you tube video about it and the guy said he used a (NTE Electronics 2W2D0 RESISTOR 2 WATT) in place of airbag. HE PUT RESISTOR IN WERE YOU WOULD HAVE CONNECTED AIRBAG I'm thinking about a NRG wheel and adaptor and spacer. Not sure about the (clock spring) HELP C5'rs

You’ll wish you had that airbag still as you skid off the road. You won’t wish long, as it will be over in a couple seconds.

Why not get the stock steering wheel recovered in a higher quality leather that compliments the other colors in the car or even get a custom wheel such as those offered by Apsis, Caravaggio, etc.

You still get to keep the air bag and have a custom look.

There is something about Airbags, I just don't like. I've never been in an accident involving bags ,but I keep thinking about them going off because of age . I have an 2000 frc hi mileage. I figure expiration is about now . I don't want it going off while i'm driving ,so just switch it out with aftermarket and still look good. It's simple, clean

Do know any thing about removing the clock spring ?

My 98 had the stock wheel removed along with the clock spring and an aftermarket wheel in its place . The fuse was pulled so it disabled the passenger side bag as well . After it bugging me for 6 years that it was not functional , I found a wheel and an airbag and put it all back together . While the stock wheel may not be as aesthetically pleasing I feel better having the bag there . When researching the legalities on not having an active airbag , I found a lot of conflicting information . You may want to consult your insurance provider .

Airbag vs no airbag debate....

OP I believe clock spring comes out and resistor goes in to keep the dash light off and trick the car thinking the airbag is still there.

Up to you to decide whether to run an airbag or not. Just like it's your choice to drive 70mph in a 55mph zone, or smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day...

Thanks For That WAS NOT SURE IF IT CAME OUT OR NOT, I Figure some one in the forum has the answer. I believe the FRC's are second best ever built. SPLIT WINDOW # One ..Everything I modify I plan on saving to put back as it was born.. I have just a few more changes.
