Rear lower bumper Plastidip removal
I'm sure many of you have done this...I bought my car with the lower already painted...time to remove it and either redo it or have it wrapped in vinyl.
What method did you use for such a large area? I see spray version Goo-Gone works well and there is also the DipYourCar Dip Dissolver...but I'm not sure if it's just a re-bottled product/gimmick.
Thanks

First step which if person sprayed properly is try to peel it off!
then use dip dissolver! You will thank yourself for spending the money! Then worst case if you never plan to dip again find a local that dips and offer it for cheap to recoup some coin!

I went on the youtubes and found some videos...seems like you're right. The dissolver seems like the best bet. The bumper at the very bottom is peeling and the "vents" have very thin dip and looks like dirt lol.

WD-40 works well also. Spray on and let sit for a few minutes to let it do its thing. It actually starts to dissolve the Plasti-dip without harming the paint underneath.

Thanks guys, I'll try WD40/Goo Gone to start with.

I really don't like the look of the lower only blacked out. I took my bumper off and had the entire rear of the bumper painted black like the C5R and C6R. I loved that look so I did it this way because I knew I wasn't going to change that look. I never have to worry about vinyl peeling or that plastadip stuff.

I have some matte black vinyl I may try to apply once Plastidip comes off. Going to be a PITA getting wrap inside the vent holes lol.
If you use a quality vinyl and applied correctly, it shouldn't peel.

Good news is you guys are right and spray-able Goo-Gone works AMAZING! Spray it on, let it sit for couple of monutes then use a plastic bondo blade to scrape it off. Hell the more you let it sit the more liquified it gets and you could power wash it off.
Bad news I had already bought some "Dip Dissolver" only to thankfully read the instructions where it says "do not use on black plastic or any plastic surfaces". I called to confirm this and the girl (seemingly out in left field) said the same thing. Not too much that is metal body panels on a C5 Damn, wasted $30.
The Goo Gone dissolves the plasti-dip the same as the Dip Dissolver and it comes in at a whopping $8 at Autozone...
What Dip Dissolver does on METAL surfaces.
I may try the Dip Dissolver on my wheels since the PO did a horrendous job.
